XDm

I just bought the Springfield XDm in the 40 s&w just wondering if anyone else out there has this and what they think about it.

It sucks you should send me your's right away before you get disappointed.

Actually the only complaint I've heard is the slide sits too high but I've not noticed that

As you can see from my signature block I have several xd's and xdm's - I carry 40 XD for personal protection every day, shoot a 9 mm XDM 5.25 for competition (production) and XCM 40 (limited division. I have collectively 20,000 rounds through XD products with only an occasional ammo malfunction. If it feels good in your hand and you can shoot it accurately this is your gun, if not, go to a store or gunshow and fondle a few (guns) and see what feels better. In my classes I mention three to possibly start on (my personal preference and that alone), a Glock, M&P and XD, simple to shoot, reliable and affordable to most. I agree with Treo though, if this gun causes extreme psychological problems, send it to me, I'm a gunshrink and would be glad to help. This is my life.....

I have one and carry it everyday. I really like it. Thinking about getting a .45 or a 9mm. Very good choice!

Xdm

I am a Licensed Arms Dealer, the XD and XDM are two of my top sellers. They are ergonomically comfortable and really are point and shoot. Now, use the front site method and you will be more than happy. Unlike the Glock, they are truly ready to get into action right out of the box! My opinion, for what its worth, you made a great choice.

What exactly does "point and shoot" mean? I just purchased my first handgun (first firearm) and was told the same thing by a gun store employee recommending a revolver. I ignored the comment because it didn't make any sense to me. What makes a gun "point and shoot"?

It means that the gun aims instinctively. you don't need to take up a proper sight picture you simply point and shoot.

I carry a XD .45 for everyday protection and use a XDm 9mm for competitions. my 45 has had 50,000 rounds through it within the past 5 yrs. 9mm has had about 15,000 rounds in the past 2 yrs. everything is still original, still works brand new.

The other day I went to a comp shoot at a new range in my area. they required we use range guns, 90% of the shooters were in line waiting to use the XDm, nobody wanted to another gun.

The XDM40 I have is excellent. No problems at all. Feels good, shoots great and fits my (and daughter's) hand better than my G22. Still, the G22 will alway's be my go to. The XDM is just to pretty and is sitting all lubed up on the throne as one of my safe queens...
