Been doing some research on the Springfield armory XD-s .45 and i'm really liking what I've seen so far, I plan on shooting one before I buy. But would like to get some input from you guys before I run out and get one.
Thanks

I own an Springfield XD .45 and I love it ! I could give you an hundred reasons why you would love it too.

The weapon is realiable, dependable, shoots unbelievable not only is it very accurate but has allot of stopping power. Its easy to Conceal. I purchased Trijcon Night sights for it and have done a little trigger work to suit my needs.

Over all it is an fine weapon I use to Carry my Glock G20 .10mm until I purchased my XD

Handguns like shoes have to fit to work properly and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for others. Before deciding on a handgun based on what you've read and heard you should handle and shoot as many handguns as you can to get a feel for what truly works for you. I'd just caution to stick to known Quality makes. While the XD is ok the XDm is better though I'd not purchase either myself as I much prefer the M&P when it comes to polymer guns.

The XDS is extremely hard to find right now. Only a few hundred have been released for sale across the country. Don't plan on shooting one before you buy it any time soon unless you know someone who managed to get their hands on one. They won't be available for rental for quite some time - it's probably gonna be a while before they're common enough to see them up on the rental wall at your local gun range/shop. We get at least 15-20 people asking for them at each gun show. Not only have I not seen one at any of the shows, I don't know anyone who has either.

If can find one buy it! You won't regret it. I got lucky when my gun guy dealer called me to say they got 2 XDs in and did I want one. I said heck yes! This gun doesn't have much more of a kick than my Kimber Pro CDP II! I couldn't believe how great it shot. Buy one!

Because of the amount of engineering that went into the new design I'm going to wait till the second or third generation comes out to get one.

Lol. Just going off personal experiences. I'm sure their 1st gen is a great pistol. But the 2nd gen will be even better.

Got my paws on one last week...not impressed...very square and boxy grip...was way too uncomfortably short in the grip...and before y'all start saying its supposed to cuz its a compact that's goofy cuz I got a XDM 3.8 9mm that's comfortable to shoot...maybe pierce will already have an extension for it though...

Springfield now makes an extended 7 rd mag for the XDs. I called to order another 5 rd mag but they didnt have any but the lady said we've got some 7 rd mags! I ordered one and it came in 3 days. I like it.

Just bought XDS, took it to the range. Its my first .45. I'm impressed, it shoots real nice and as the reviews said it handles very well for its size. I have shot a friends full size Ruger .45 (i think its a P95?) well the xds kicks a bit more than that or my Sig 239 9mm. but is by no means out of line. I did find the deep grip pattern in the handle somewhat uncomfortable after 200 rounds, other than that and having to figure out a holster I love the gun. its my first Springfield too, very nice.

Dealer called and told me they had the XDS in stock. I bought the last of three they had and an am very impressed, great gun, shoots very well for it's size. I'll be putting another two hundred or so through it and I'm pretty sure I'll be carrying this little pocket cannon in my new crossbreed from now on. :-)

I got the one from the first batch the day after they came out and my buddy just found one 2 days ago. Just keep an eye out and make some calls if you can't find one. My LGS sells more guns than anybody in VA and they said they've been getting in 10 a week and they are gone in less than a day. Springfield is at least churning them out and trying to make them available. I was a little pissed at the $40 price tag they want for a single stack 7 round mag. And the fact that the $600 gun came with two 5 rounders instead of one 5 and one 7
