XD 40 Subcompact or Compact?

How much of a difference does that extra inch make when you are trying to conceal the gun? It seems like Galco has more belt holsters for the 4 inch model then the 3 inch? Is the 4in more accurate?

i have the subcompact in .40. its alot easier for me to carry that over my full size m&p .40. imo i rather go small just for the fact noone will see the print of a larger handle and i can draw it just as fast as a full size. it also has 2 mags. one is a small 9 round the other is a 12 round. with that 12 round in the gun its got a full size grip and its still easy to carry it.

either way you go im sure you will be happy with it. are you looking into a 9mm or a .40?

Actually bought the 40 on Friday but I was in a hurry and I think I rented the compact 4in rather then the sc. I know that the 3in will fit in the Galco 4in but why buy that one? I also thought about the Desantis mini slide. The barrel sticks out about 1/2 inch but no one should be able to see it anyhow I think if I have a fleece or button up shirt that is untucked. Neighbor says the 3in is better to carry anyway so maybe I'll just stick with it. Figure if I have to pull it the guy is going to be about 15 max anyway. He carries the Glock 3in 40 and loves it.

Congrats on your new purchase. I think you'll like the 3". I've had one as my primary carry for about a year now and I love it! I use a couple of different holsters depending on my situation, but I really love the Galco M7X Matrix; secure, fast, easy to put on/take off, and carries just right for me.

As for concealability, I do think the 3" is much better and I find the weapon to be pretty darn accurate within the distance I might need to use it. It's my favorite carry and I can say I've carried it well concealed in all types of weather and clothing. Enjoy!

I have shot both. But can't hit the side of a barn with the Sub. As a man with a large frame I can carry the full size with no problem. I use a Cross Breed holster when I will be carrying all day long. I can carry when wearing a tee shirt in the summer with no problem and am very accurate with the full size weapon. On short outings from the house I will carry the Bare Asset from High Noon Holsters. Both work well, but it comes down to what works best for you and your build.
