Has anyone had any experience with gauge adapters? This sounds too good to be true. Any advice?

"X-Caliber is the most versatile Gauge Adapter system in the world. It allows you to shoot 11 different caliber rounds from one shooting platform: a single-shot 12 gauge shotgun. Each X-Caliber adapter is made from 7 inches of 4140 chromoly steel. Each adapter is also rifled to increase accuracy.

The calibers of ammunition that the X-Caliber can fire include: .22LR / 38 special / .357 / 9mm / 45 acp / 45LC / .410 shotgun / 12 ga. shotgun /.223 / 7.62x39 / 308."

Nothing new been around forever. Two major issues. If not made correctly then can damage the bore of your shotgun. Second there are very short thus your not going to be hitting the x ring at any distance. There are companies that make full length inserts ( a barrel in a barrel ) that can overcome the accuracy issue but they aint cheap. Any decent smith with a a lathe can crank you out one in your caliber choice or sub gauge for less then 100 bucks.

I have not used one, but I have seen a couple. I actually just found this video and watched it a couple nights ago:

Glad that my search into this topic turned me on to this forum. Seems to be a very cool community, good info, respectful posts. On the topic of sub gauge adapters, I generally agree, but respectfully disagree on those points regarding what I've been able to research and experience first hand, Maine. I've used the stubby little gauge adapters (approx 3 inch, NO rifling) and you're right - there's no point. No accuracy whatsoever. After I received a email notification about this system from a buddy, I immediately thought "what's the catch" myself too. Sounds amazing. So I made a call and talked with the owner at the distributor. These adapters are apparently 7 inches and each one is rifled. That's a huge tech spec difference from the old ones I've used in the past. Guy said this is the first time they've ever been able to shoot the high cal rounds because of the blowback diffusion engineering worked into them, and that apparently hasn't ever been done before in something like this. I dunno, I'm a survival guy, and this seemed too good to be true - so I guess I'm waiting to see them in action. Anyone come across any videos of these new ones, post away!

Thanks Etkini! Got another notification and looks like the manufacturer produced vids too showing it in action. I think I'm sold after seeing these specific units being field tested. Very cool.
