Woman uses handgun to fight off attacker
Investigators are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a woman on a street in Oregon City Sunday night.
The woman used her handgun to free herself from her attacker, the Oregon City Police Department reports.
According to Oregon City police, the 22-year-old victim was attacked by the stranger at about 10:20 p.m., just after she had parked her car at the intersection of 8th and JQ Adams streets.
The woman told officers the suspect approached her from behind, grabbed her ponytail, dragged her backwards and began to assault her. The woman then pulled out her legally-owned handgun and pointed it at the man, who ran away. No serious injuries were reported. The handgun was legally-owned, Oregon City police said.
A K-9 search of the neighborhood was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as white, in his late 20s, about 5-foot-8 with a slender build. He has medium-length hair down to his chin and no facial hair. At the time of the attack he was wearing a brown-colored zip-up style jacket or hoodie with dark-colored pants.
