What is the exact law on carrying into an establishment that serves alcohol. Is it just bars or any place that serves alcohol? Can someone help get this straight.

You might try looking for your answer in the State Specific area. You might get better answers specific to Wisconsin in that area.

Here in Florida the answer would be "you can cary in any resturant that serves booze as long as you're not sitting in the area (at the bar) where the booze is served."

One of the specific aspects of the regulation concerns the percentage of revenue generated at such establishments from food versus booze.

In PA, for the establishmnet had to generate at least 51% of revenue from food sale to be considered a resturant and not a bar. This issue is not clarified in the Florida statutes. As long as there is food served and the bar area is separated from the dining room, I can CC in that establishment without violating the statute.

IANAL, but from what I can tell you can't carry anywhere alcohol is served for onsite consumption.

handgunlaw.us says No http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/wisconsin.pdf

It sites:

941.237 Carrying Handgun Where Alcohol Beverages May be Sold and Consumed.
(2) Whoever intentionally goes armed with a handgun on any premises for which a Class “B” or “Class B” license or permit has been issued under ch. 125 is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor
(Link Removed)

Best I can tell a Class “B” or “Class B” license or permit allows for on premise consumption

The answer is both yes and no.

Wi statue 941.237 states

941.237 Cannot Carrying handgun where alcohol beverages may be sold and consumed.

But... 941.237 (3)(g) reads

(3) Subsection (2) does not apply to any of the following

(g) The possession or use of a handgun on the premises if authorized for a specific event of limited duration by the owner or manager of the premises who is issued the Class “B” or “Class B” license or permit under ch. 125 for the premises.

This can all be see at: Link Removed

To put this in normal terms, if you get permission from the owner/manager for a specific date and time, you can carry.

If you go to :Link Removed

This is a permission slip that the state attorney general has seen and approved of. He said this covers preponderance of evidence. (i am not a lawyer)

Thank you all for the answers. I really can't wait for conceal and carry.

Your from Wisconsin right? Do you guys there feel as though your state legislature will allow CCW soon? Hope so. Now, if we could just get Illinois on the wagon too.

handgonnetoter - we are expecting something with CCW to happen this legislative session. At this time Wisconsin Carry Inc and some other guns rights groups are making huge pushes to pass a Constitutional Carry program. This will be a permit free system, like Arizona, Alaska and Vermont. With Wyoming just passing Constitutional Carry, Utah I believe is almost passed, Colorado and Kentucky are also looking into it, Constitutional Carry is the only correct way for this to proceed in Wisconsin. We have been behind the curve for WAY to long.

As for Illinois, get involved with ICarry, ICarry.org Illinois and Wisconsin Right to Carry Concealed Carry Open Carry - ICarry.org, they are a group working with both IL and WI on guns rights issues, but ICarry does more in IL.

Carry on, Carry ALWAYS!!
