Wisco wises up...and, what to CC

Hey,
spent far too many years listening to the WISE lawmakers in Madison, Wi., dictating that CC would lead to the end of the world. Finally, Republicans gained a majority in both houses and Gov...and ram-rodded CC through. Took me 13 days to get my CC permit. BTW, I'm PO'd our GOP/GOV ran for office and not once talked about ending unions. He was in office a month...and did. WOW. Just wrong, from GOP or DEM to run...and not mention intent.
anyway....i have a Colt 1911 combatr commander, browning HiPower. What to CC and how to carry? holster? It's spring and summer here.....those are big platforms. I do have a SW lady smith NIB...and would prefer not carry/use. Help me with the pro's and con's of a 1911 and HiPower. Or, should I invest in a ruger lcp...or something small......380 is okay by me.
help and thanks.

I have the LCP and love it for the ease of carry in all seasons but especially summer. I've had no issues what so ever. Living in MN, I was over joyed you finally got CC in WI! WOO HOOO

I also have an lcp and it is in my pocket at all times. I carry a g23 anytime but at work and with a good holster like my crossbreed iwb i forbet it is there. I thought my lcp would be only an in emergency gun when not able to carry the glock but both the wife and i fell in love and have them on us all the time. I also love the wi 9assed cc laws since i too am in mn very close to wi.

Start with a good gunbelt. Two ply leather or reinforced nylon. For holsters I prefer leather/kydex IWB. I use Tucker Gunleather "The Answer" with leather lining to protect 1911 finish. Crossbreed and Khoster are two maker of hybrid holsters. Might have to go up one pants size . Two if using IWB magazine holder(s). If needed Perry Suspenders hook under belt. Carry what you are comfortable with. Both 1911 and Hi-power are good choices. While 45 is my preference in my two carry primary carry pieces, it's not for every one. Hope this helps and stay safe.

Welcome fellow cheese head! I have a sig p-6 ( 225) and I use a cleavand holster " which by the way is made right here in WISCONSIN. There a lot of options out there for any type of gun, you just have to look. BTW I too am not very happy with what the gov did myself and I voted for him.

btw

Love my LCP but want an LC9. Love my Sneaky Pete Holster, will get one 4 the LC9 when I get 1. Not sure about guys liking the holster but as a biker it makes your gun handy when in leathers.

I agree with Sig p6 on Cleveland's Holster.

However, I can't wait to vote for Gov Walker again. I don't like the reasoning behind the recall. Even some of the Dem's I know are supporting the Gov in the recall for the simple reason that Gov Walker should have four years just like the Governors before him. I hope they correct the recall process so that only actual misconduct in office is the reason for a recall. The horror of eliminating a 3 plus billion dollar deficit by making state employees pay towards health and retirement at a rate that it half of private employees (sarcasm intended). The unions are not eliminated as the OP stated, the unions can still collectivity bargain on wages. The unions are mad that they have to collect dues straight from each member (beg and hope to get some money) as the state will no longer automatically deduct union dues from wages. For the Union, it's all about keeping the money flowing, they'd sell the state employee out in a heart beat if the Gov would agree to resume dues collection.

Sorry for the political rant, it's a hot button issue with me. I won't reply to additional comments on the matter unless it's in the political forum.

Choose the weapon you are the most proficient with and go with that. you can learn to dress around the weapon. When I decided to carry, I knew that there would be some challenges and that I would have to make some changes in the way I dressed. Since receiving my permit in December I have not left the house without wearing my G23. Yes it is winter, but I think that makes it a bit more difficult, having to deal with the winter coats and stuff. I am able to conceal well in just a T shirt. Can't wait til summer is here and we dont need these coats!!
