Wife will not be prosecuted for mistakenly shooting husband

She told him she heard a noise and sent him to investigate. Then she shot him 6 times mistaking him for an intruder.

The district attorney has determine that it was an accident.

But I'm bothered by the part of the story that suggest it was a mistake because "she didn't lawyer up."

A person shouldn't be thought of as anything other than innocent simply because they retain a lawyer to protect their rights. Way too many innocent people have been convicted and then subsequently proven innocent to trust the prosecutor to treat one fairly. And most competent prosecutors know that the "I've got nothing to hide" guy is more than likely the one with something to hide.

The original story about the shooting can be found here:

Hmm...... Suddenly I'm all the more happy I bought my Beloved Kathleen a Sure Fire flashlight and a really nice Sure Fire fore end for Remington 870 she keeps by the bed.

Let's hope this lady learns that it's a good idea to IDENTIFY the target...

I remember the original story. I am pretty sure she knew exactly who she was shooting. But, that is just my opinion.

Reading the latest story the first thing that struck me was the age difference and I thought, accident...sure...fishy...gossip.. all that I can understand. Then when I went back to some of the other stories and that she had recently been assaulted it made sense and I could believe her story. The hardest part of all of it for me to believe was,...I hear a noise, go investigate...OK honey heading downstairs.....Here take the gun with you...Nope, I prefer a baseball bat. You hear an intruder downstairs in your house and you have the choice of a gun or a baseball bat but you choose the bat???????

???????

Why not? My wife likes her baseball bat I got her more then the handgun. She knows how to use both of them vary well. No idea why she likes tha bat more.

I have no idea how you can shoot someone SIX times! Then claim it was just an accident? She had to be close enough to see who it was to be able to land six bullets on target at night, With her heart pumping in fear for her life. Or she is an expert marksman and should start teaching USPSA classes.

Six times????? She knew who she was shooting! IMHO Just turn it around and if the husband shot his wife six-times, do you believe the outcome would have been the same??? MHO I don't think so!!

Women who commit crimes are looked/treated differently then males who commit the same crimes. Even more so if they are good looking women who have committed a crime. Point in case look at all the female teacher sex offenders, they have sex with their underage students and get off with little more then a slap on the wrist. Flip it around and look at the male teachers who commit the same crime. They are pegged as some crazed sex monster who will pray again if not locked up for years.

Look at the re-offender rate of Female teachers who are now sex offenders. Even after being let go with a warning and told not to do it again. They go right back out(in most cases with the same student) and do it again.

Rate of male teachers is almost not there(it does happen, but we never hear about it).

If this had been flipped and the husband had shot his wife SIX TIMES! They would have found any reason to label him a monster! They would have dug up all his old flames, women he talked to in the supermarket etc.. Found any reason to claim he was unfaithful and this was an attempt to murder his wife.

The reasoning they would have tried to use to do this is endless!

YOU SAID A MOUTHFUL! My bestest bro. since Jr. High, a career LEO, learned that his cute blonde ex-wife and her current guy had decided there was big money in kiddie porn (he says there's nothing like learning your daughter has been raped for years and has a website dedicated to her). Though both were equally guilty in this "use our children for kiddie porn" business, the final outcome was the GUY went to prison for a long time, while SHE is totally free, merely not allowed visitation.

And don't even get me started on the "equality" of divorce courts (well, at least my ex will never have to work again)...
