Why is Walmart Considered the Concealed Carry Cherry?

Sorry if it This was a rude question. I couldn't think of a better way to ask it.

So every New CC License holder on the Internet talks about their first walk as a concealed carry member in Walmart. Why is that the case? Because it is the most common retail store in the country? Why not "The Mall" or "The Flea Market". I find those areas to be a higher functioning test since many more people are in your personal space.

Maybe because it's proof that they can carry around large groups of stupid people without going postal?

Not rude at all. I think it's popular because you are amongst many types of people in a high paced setting. You can fondle melons, shop for ammunition, pick up some toothpaste, and people watch. Its a great setting to become comfortable with "acting normal" in public.

Wasn't my first outing but I understand why a lot of folks choose it as their testing ground.

Its all psychological. Besides.... "Wally Walk" just sounds cool.

Personally, I found Lowes to be more challenging. Too much stuff to bend down, pick up and carry.

I agree..................=-)

I didn't know about the Wally Walk, but ended up going there first since I wanted to get some more ammo. My mall doesn't allow anything that can be used as a weapon so I avoid it like the plague so I don't have to saw off limbs before entering.

I'm trying to hold in my laughter so my kid doesn't wake up. Don't think it's working. I just heard some fussing from his room.

Like many things, it's just become tradition.

Like bacon is the food choice in tactical discussions.

The reason's are many but to summorize, Basically 99% of the US population lives within 20 miles of a Walmart, For those of us that live in rural America, it is likely the only place that we can get, food, clothing, ammo, car stuff, electronics, guns, and other stuff in one stop. Walmart is generally gun friendly or at least Gun Neutral, and most of the "customers" aren't going to freak if they see a civilan carring a weapon. It most likely is not the "first" place that most of us went, but it is usually the first place with a large number of people that we went to.

In wisconsin , We are very "new" to ccw. Open carry have been around for a while but you don't see as many doing so,"I think that may change in time now that ccw is LAW!". I myself kind of go in between when I carry, I use an owb for my sig p6 or g21. just the other day I was at best buy and I think I was busted by the staff. but nothing happened.

i don't shop at wally world. but have gone to that store on occasion.
my first cc walk was the corner store to get smokes and on to my local grocer. had no problem with it at all . i don't go out much only if i have to so i only carried a few times in public thus far......
but when i had to go to the post office i kept my gun and gear at home being we can't carry there or have a gun in our vehicle even on post office property

I love to CC carry and open carry. The discussion is varied due to length of line and location, that is in the drug line older folks, main checkout line a cross section. Reactions in my state vary as to “Hey your GUN is cocked” to “Hey how does it group”. While window shopping and ammo buying at the gun counter the discussions usually make my day because I like to show off what I consider nifty that is the Kimber CDP II from the custom shop. The Korean War vet at the counter and I may chat for a long time if no customers need his assistance. But, I live in a very anti-Obama, anti-Holder, Constitutionally correct, God’s Country part of the world. I avoid other Communistic, Socialistic, Marxist States as I would the plague.

It's also the first place many people OC. Probably the best reason is that it's less likely that anyone see someone with a firearm is going to freak out than just about anywhere else on the planet. More 'n likely Fred would just nudge his wife and say "See, hon? So, why can't I have a gun, too?"

Well, I think the wife may say “Hey, his is bigger than yours”, or she might say “His is bigger than mine, let’s go shopping NOW”.

anyone need a wally walk map rotflmao

Hey, that is great, I took the time and read the wally world walk around, I like that, but what about get you family home, come back, buy th S&W AR-15, Sig AR-15 and Zombie ammo, the Sara Brcommemorativetive Uzi, tell wife you won them buy new safe for all the needed goodies, rest, repeat as needed?

i wouldn't suggest lying to your wife about it though. i'm glad i don't have to get my purchases approved by anyone other than myself
heheh

I have to agree with post about Wally world being the closest to most people. I dont know how prevalent JC Penny's is, do you even know what a smiths is, and for heavens sake, Im not driving 4 hours to carry around the mall just to say I did. Ok, Twin Falls is only 3 hours away, but same thing.

Well, we do not have to have the other’s permission to buy anything, but, I believe she (Wife) and I have a relationship that is not this is mine, or her check book and mine. She has been a CCW since 1995, a citizen carry since 1975. Just a bit of humor. However, if she bought a 1-K $ anything I would not be upset if she wanted it or needed it whatever IT might be. On the other hand she would be upset if I bought another anything that has a barrel made for slugs to come out. Well, other than a mess of primers, powder or slugs for the reloading shed. She likes to punch paper as much as I do.
