why and when to carry?

If my pants are on, my weapon is also. If I'm in bed, it's half an arm away, next to my shotgun. Everywhere I go, it goes also. If a store is posted, I find another store. 24/7 ALWAYS! You never know, so it always goes.

Just bought my XD. Not sure when to stick it on my belt. Live in a quiet and relatively safe area. When do other of you pack?

why carry? because you can
when to carry? always because you can never know if and when trouble will come your way.

when i dress for the day i am packed for the day it goes everywhere i do cept the courthouse and post office which are 'gun free' zones in florida then it's in my vehicle and put back on as soon at i get to it........
i sit here now with mine on my hip
and when i go to bed it's still within grip
get a good holster for it and carry on

I carry all the time unless I am going to work. Cannot legally carry in a federal building. I read once before on this subject and they compared concealed carry to car insurance.

What days do you carry car insurance? You can not pick the day someone goes thru a red light and hits you , just as you can't pick the day that someone attacks you and you need to have a handgun on you.You carry insurance all the time, you should be packing all the time.

On another note, post offices are federal buildings and it is a gun free zone everywhere (not just Florida)!

You don't call your insurance agent and pick and choose which days you want to have coverage on your car do you? You pay the premium and if you didn't need it that day, it was a damn good day! It's that simple!

Always Carry!

Personally I carry all day every day and everywhere I go, if there is a sign I don't go there and find somewhere else to spend my money.

Last night on CBS Real People an example was presented to carry at all times. A female officer in St. Louis was leaving her boyfriends house and stowed her vest and weapon in her car to say good-bye hands free. During the minute they were on the sidewalk they were approached rapidly by to armed black thugs demanding their valueables. They ended up being dragged inside the boy friends house at gun point, where his grandmother, mother, female cousin and her 2 male children were sleeping. Long story short the officer made move to end the situation without her weapon in an attempt to get to her weapon, she was shot 5 times and survived, boyfriend was shot 3 times and survived and the cousin was shot once and died of her wound leaving her children to be raised by her aunt.

The situation haunts the officer and she has left the force because of the incident. Her words had she not stowed her weapon it would have all gone down differently and it would have never gotten inside the house. (where the cousin was shot and killed)

Always carry everywhere you are allowed and I suggest even carrying at home when you can.

Sad story...

For sure carry at ATMs if you're gonna pick and choose.

I live in a small rural town where there aren't always options if a business is posted. Work prohibits carry, post office where we HAVE to go to get our mail prohibits. I'm in court a lot - prohibited, at the hospital a lot - prohibited. So what I figured out to do was to "car carry." I have two within easy reach but hidden from view. A junker Kel-Tec PF9 and a mouse gun NAA .22 back up (yeah, not much but something). I do a lot of driving and when I'm on long drives I carry my Beretta M9 or PX4SC....or both in addition to the "car guns." On long trips may switch out the PF9 for my hot rod Glock 26.

But around town if I'm at a place where I can carry I can just slip the PF9 (in Galco horsehide pocket holster) in a jacket pocket when I leave the car. Sometimes slip the mouse gun in my pants pocket too.

May seem silly or stupid or "wrong" to others but its what I've worked out to deal with carry in my very rural small town.

Bad guys have cars and travel everywhere, I carry everywhere when I leave home it goes with me like my wallet, pants and shirt. PS: Also at home all the time.

Everywhere and always. This includes the home. Studies show that 100% of home invasions occur in the home.

I live in a quiet residential area in Las Vegas. It's currently 3:53 am, and I've been up since 3:00...smoking and drinking coffee in my garage while reading forums and the news on the computer. My G26 is resting in an OWB holster at the three o'clock position on my hip.

Later, when I put on my regular pants, it's heading into my IWB holster...even if I don't leave home.

Why I carry - Because I can, because cops are too heavy and require feeding more then my dog, and because its easier for me to defend others in times of need.

When I carry - Whenever I leave the house - unless im heading to a state/federal government office where its "no guns allowed".. I generally dont go anywhere much without atleast 1 of my firearms. generally carrying 2 (sometimes 3)

Everywhere I go that's legal in my state. Your firearm does you no good if you don't have it with you. I see no reason to get a handgun and not carry it.

I would rather have it on me the rest of my life and not need it than to need it and my not having it mark the end of my life.
