Two years ago a friend of mine was on a job site by him self, cleaning the tracks on a bull dozer, He was in a part of town that was known to NOT be the best part of town. A young african american male approached him from behind with a knife. My friend thinking something didn't feel right turned around only to see and feel the knife cutting through coat he was wearing. Just a minor cut. The coat saved him. Anyways my friend still had the track spade in his hand and commenced to putting a whooping on this gentleman. The metal pinging sound probably wasn't much different than an aluminum bat. Anyways The young fellow was able to get away as my friend was to tired to chase him. Cops were called and took the information and found the guy the next day in the hospital. All his ribs were broken on the left side and there was some internal damage. No charges were filed by the police or the DA. However three months later a civil suit was filed against my friend by the assailant. My friend was very concerned about the situation. All ended well and the assailant didn't win. But this young S.O.B is still walking the street. What has our society become ? Had Roy had his gun on him that day I'm quite certain the outcome would have been much, much different.
