Which legislation makes more sense?

New gun laws or requiring alarms on theatre emergency doors?

Could you imagine what would have happened id the majority of people it that theater were carrying? Do you think he would have still attempted the crime knowing the vast majority of people carry firearms? Would he had gotten off a few rounds before being hit with a wall of lead? Do you think that way back when, when most people carried firearms everywhere they went mass murders took place like this? (Let's not bring up the killing of Indians and all that, I'm talking about in existing western towns)

We can never say it enough here, gun laws do nothing to prevent bad people from doing harm to others with guns.... but, good people with guns can stop those bad people from doing as much harm with guns.

A side note, most emergency doors I've seen have alarms... interesting.

True, Emergency Exits Only, have alarms. Exits that are intended to be used as an emergency exit as well as an exit, as in movie theaters, don't normally have alarms, as they are intended to be used as exits. Alarms would be a nuisance on those exits.

Well, this is a carry forum and I carry - but unless you could stick a pistol right in that guy's eye and pull the trigger, you'd have a hell of a time dropping him under those circumstances.

Anyone who really thinks otherwise is kidding himself. And a half dozen other people shooting in the dark, with the training they do or don't have, wouldn't do all that much good, either.

Yeah, it's odd... I've seen those doors opened and closed without any alarms, too. Then again, under normal circumstances, who figures that someone is gonna come in and shoot the place up?

These just ain't exactly normal times anymore.....

A serious question...

"Why do we need more legislation to deal with a madman that no amount of legislation could deal with?"

The problem with gun free zones (like the big California cities) is that without adequate protection and enforcement, they become a technology trap.

Gun free zones do not make any sense.

Everyone should be CCW everywhere.

The problem with CCW is the gas operated magazine fed semiautomatic rifle. Against one of these the CCW citizen will be outgunned and blown away.

So the ancillary question becomes what could be done about the semiauto gas operated rifles?
