Never shot the sr9 but I've heard good things. I wasn't a fan of the Px4 when my dad had one.

Love my SR9C. It's the gun I use for concealed carry. Easily concealed even in shorts and t-shirt. Not too heavy even after all day carry.

Hi James..I've never shot either of those..but I'd like to suggest a 9 if interested..the great thing about firearms is there are so many to choose from, and and every firearm fits each of us differently, the 9 I chose I am extremely satisfied with, for many reason, and I think that is key, the firearm that you choose should be the one you find the most reasons (both quality and quantity of reasons) for liking it..I went with the Springfield XD9 Subsompact..I didnt want a carry gun with a manual safety, just one extra step to try to remember in a high stressed moment, that could affect the outcome of life or death, the safety feature of this gun is the combination of grip safety levers on the back of the grip and small one on the trigger(will not fire unless they are both compressed). It also has a chamber indicator on top of slide and firing pin indicator on back of slide, where as in the dark you can feel the gun is loaded and ready to fire. So from a safety standpoint it's top notch for carry. Of course you have to love the physical attributes (how it looks) which I absolutely love, all black, great sights, (3-dot) which are interchangeable with tritium or fiber optic if ya choose, has melonite finish very durable compared to bluing (or you can choose stainless, which looks awesome). The barrel reminds me of a little cannon, the thickness is almost 1/8 of an inch thick, very stout. Now for the best part, this gun is so well balanced while shooting, can get back on target very quickly..I've shot many different brands and models and calibers and fell in love with this one..immediately.. Btw, out of the box with 2high capacity magazines, a 13 and a 16, which was just an added bonus.. As far as then2 you are trying to choose from, try finding or asking shooting ranges if they have either or both you can try..try to find the one with the most reasons you like and appreciate... I'm sorry if I turned this into a novel but I hope I was helpful

I have the SR9c and love it. The only issue I see with it is the limited holster options. I have a crossbreed supertuck deluxe which is great. I just wish there was more options for different circumstances and wardrobes.

James; I have owned and presently own, the SR9C and the Beretta PX4 compact. And although both guns are great guns, I have stayed with the SR9C. I found the PX4 to be or at least feel a bit bulky compared to the SR9C. Comparatively they are close in features. I just found the SR9C more suited to what I need for fit and feel. Its a great shooting pistol, comfortable, easy to stay on target and accurate. I do agree with Blackbird though, go and try to try out these guns and choose which is best for you. As for the safety's again it is personal choice. I prefer the external safety, If you train with it its second nature to flick it off on the draw. As for the holster options, I have found plenty. I use a versa carry at home and a N82 tacticle when I am out and about. If you look there are plenty.. Good luck in your choice...

Thanks Mike I like the feel of both guns but the Ruger seems a bit smaller feeling to me also

After trying literally every 9 at my favorite gun dealer, I bought the XD9 subcompact. It was immediately comfortable in my hand; recoil was easy to handle; adjustable sights.I, too, bought the all black. Another thing I like...it's easy to breakdown for cleaning. Out of the box, I had a 4" grouping at 25 yards (and I'm not an expert by any means.).

Between those two, SR9c all the way. Comfortable to carry, as it feels smaller than it is, dead-on accurate, and has good capacity with an extra 17rd mag to complement the 10rd. That being said, I got rid of mine in favor of other, IMHO, better choices. But if those are your options, you can't go wrong with the Ruger.

I'm with the SR9c also. Conceals better and is an excellent gun, great stock trigger, accurate, dependable, ten and 17 round mags.
