I'm 5'8", tipping the scales under 150. I carry 1911's ALL the time, either compact or FULL SIZE. I use a leather IWB and I dare you to detect I'm packing.
I practice with it so it doesn't bother me that it's only 8 or 9 rounds. I can HIT my targets bcuz I practice.

I carry either a Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 or my new XD .45 Compact in a Comp-tac MTAC Minotaur holster. Love them both.

These are what I've been carrying for the last 2 years.

A full sized Norinco M1911. Replaced all of the firing mechanism parts and added fake ivory grips to replace the plastic "GI" grips (that melted the first time I cleaned the gun). Accurate and totally reliable with Hornady 200gr. TAP.

I used to carry it in a Don Hume 715M, now in a tuckable leather IWB I made myself.
