PLEASE, visit the website and CALL FIRST. They should be able to answer any questions you may have. NJ is NOT a gun-friendly state. Be SURE you know what you need before you transport a handgun and how it must be transported.

I second the motion and move for a vote!

I think moving would be your best option.

If that is not in the cards.Try going to your local gun shops and talking to people. Find one your comfortable with and ask their opinion, don't limit yourself to one shop around you will find some great folks at the little whole in the wall. Also, try talking to some of your friends and colleagues on the subject. It may surprise you as to who's into what in your circle. I can say I found a CCW required pistol safety class for my parents by talking to a guy at work. He was downright cheap by CT standards and my parents had a phenomenal experience. Point is you never know who is interested in the things you are until you ask.

I did an internet search for "NRA Qualified Instructors NJ".

Frankly, I was STUNNED at the result. NJ's firearms laws ARE terrible, but I gotta say the range and programs available look top-notch.

My jaw's still hanging open.
