Where do you go to buy your firearms?

God bless my local dealer but when his prices are 20% higher and then add sales tax and compare it to internet it is purely an issue of money that I can spend elsewhere. You already heard about Cheaper and Buds. I have purchased from GunBroker and GunsAmerica, which tap into a slew of dealers. I have also sold thru Armslist and Gunslisting, which are more local connections with people in your area and closer to dealing with a neighbor--you just prompt in your location and go from there, although there are not as many listings for a particular firearm that you may want.

I support the local gun shops. Including me. While Bud's may have it in stock, they aren't as cheap as getting them from the major distributors such as RSR or Sports South.

Local stores and gun shows. Contrary to the anti-gunner's lies, one must have a valid and current permit to purchase or carry permit to buy a firearm at a gun show in Iowa. There is no need for on the spot background checks to be done. It's ALREADY BEEN DONE.

I agree Sandy Scott: Buds service used to be Superior, but Something has changed there in the last month or so & now the process is very slow.
Time to find a new dealer.

Try Budsgunshop.com . I've bought lots of guns through them for customers and handled the FFL transfers. Good prices.

I have a lady that lives with us. I gave her the class to carry a couple of weeks ago. She decided she wants the Ruger LCR .38. We Googled the gun and best pricing. Bud's came up on top. Problem was his Website. It's way too busy, too much clutter, very hard to navigate and sign up. When I finally got through the sign up process and had to wait for the confirmation email. It took over an hour to get the email. That's pretty sad. I agree, something has changed: For the worse!

I was a big fan of Buds. but something has changed within the last month or two.
I have bought six guns from them this year alone, mostly because or their speedy service & good prices. Normally I would have my gun in my FFL dealers hands within 2-3 days of my purchase.
My most recent purchase has been in the processing or shipping mode for OVER a week now. Status still hasn't changed to 'SHIPPED".
I don't know what it may have been, but this is a major delay from their former excellent service.
Don't plan to use them any more.

A local pawn shop sells new firearms for cost + $10. He does a LOT of business. I have found that the major retailers (Cabelas, Sportsmans Whorehouse etc) are usually way overpriced. BTW $650 for an 870 express seems a little overpriced to me. Check around, take a look at used 870's and price all the "tactical" add ons online. Having a wood shoulder stock and fore end may not look as cool but the person on the receiving end will not know the difference. Your checkbook will.

It's all about gun shows! You can shop all the local dealers at once... as an added bonus, you can shop dealers from the surrounding cities and small towns because they're all there too. I go to the Tanner Gun Show in Denver. There's usually 700 tables. Sometimes I go to the smaller gun shows in the small towns because the price can be even cheaper and the taxes can be lower. The shop I favor is about 60 miles north of me in a very teeny town. The prices are 10-15% lower ALL THE TIME and, while nearly every dealer charges $10 for a background check, these folks don't charge a dime! So... to make a short story long, shop the gun shows. They're there for a reason!

I was raised shooting rifles and shotguns, but have never owned a handgun until now. But, I just bought my first handgun yesterday. I was all set to order my new Ruger SR9, (I have been trying out a lot of different ones at a gun range near my home) from "Bud's Gun Shop" or "Cheaper Than Dirt." According to Link Removed, They had the best deals on that particular day and were even offering free shipping. But a friend told me that I should check out "Adventure Outdoors" in Smyrna, GA. They showed the slack version of the gun that I wanted for the same price, but not the one with the nickle plated slide that I liked. So I called them up and ask if they could match it, since most places usually sell moth models for the same price. A very sweet young lady ask for my number and said she would see what she could do. About an hour later, she called back and said that she could. And since I didn't have to pay a FFL fee, I actually saved a couple of bucks even having to pay local sales tax. When I got to the store, I was very impressed with the size of their selection and their staff. From now on, I will never buy anything without giving them a chance at my business.

Link Removed But they don't necessarily know everybody's prices.
