Certainly have to check with jurisdictions if you decide to do this on your own. Do not know where or how you obtained your CCWP but some instructors have their own outdoor ranges that probably have been approved for shooting. Tough question to answer. The easy smarty answer would be to walk around in Oakland, the "finer areas" of LA, maybe Compton or Fresno, or take a ride down to Mexico for a little R&R--sure can get all the practice you want.

depends on where in kalifornia you are..back in the day I would go to Lytle creek and about 10 years ago out in the desert by the Salton Sea. I would check with the Forestry Dept first though...just to be sure!

Out my back door!

Oh yea that is a song

Do Do Do shooting out my back door!

There's a giant doing cartwheels...

Move to any state other than Illinois or New York. Buy a large parcel of land, and design and build a shooting range with your specifications. (This is just a sarcastic comment posted on the spur of the moment. In reality, check with your local law enforcement folks.)

lol kelcarry.... oyeah ive acutally been to lytle creek when i use to live in rialto i member going deep n seein abandonded spots wit bullet holes in doors n bricks n stuff i always wondered if i would be able to shoot there or what are my chances of running into a LEO or if its allowed ...yeah thats what i dream of buildin my own shootin range

Credance Clearwater Revival...never was sure of the name of the song, but I roller skated MILES to it! That is the melody that comes to mind anyway. If those are actual lyrics.......I don't have a clue.

Komifornia??

You can buy firearms. Nobody mentioned you have a right to train with it properly. Haha

I would check with local gun clubs. That's your best bet. I know how you feel buddy. Sac town. Try joining up a active gun club. Lots of training there. Sometimes paper Targets aren't enough anymore.

I'm out in PA now. You get a gun for opening a checking acct out here.

I don't recommend trying to take firearms into Mexico. Mucho red tape amigo. Military calibers are not permitted to civilians; 9mm, .45acp, etc.

Lytle Creek was closed to all shooting last I heard due to people trashing the place and unsafe practices. I refused to go there as people were shooting in all directions, setting up firing stations behind shooters who were there first, etc.

Some National forest areas remain open however, the last I heard there was a battle going on to deny target shooting anywhere in the Nat'l Forest. Only OK for hunting during open seasons. The Forest service was handling it temporarily by just closing the gates and claiming fire hazard, bad road conditions, whatever they thought they could get away with.
