it's not a permit to kill it's a permit to lawfully defend yourself with a gun if necessary and even then you could wind up in jail till the case goes to trial just look at george zimmerman a man who shot in self defense ........

Please don't play into this. It is common knowledge that taking the life of a human in the US is almost always a crime. Anyone considering owning a firearm has to have at least had a fleeting thought of what would happen if they used their firearm. Anyone living in this country, unless they live under a rock, has no doubt seen the exploits of George Zimmerman, John Holmes and others. Hence the OP can answer his own question by sheer deductive reasoning. I encourage him/ her to rethink the question. Perhaps we're missing some underlying, unspoken curiosity here.
