Whats Up Doc?

In November I am scheduled to go "Into The Big City" for a Surgery consultation.
I live in a pretty small town and I carry everywhere except to work where it is prohibited.
I told my wife I was going to carry my 9mm rather than the SR1911 I carry every day.
My wife was shocked that I would carry to the Dr. Office.
I have to travel about 90 Miles one way into a big unfamiliar city. I'm thinking carrying is quite normal, And, I do not leave my weapon in the car.
I will have to undress for the exam but I intend to leave my gun under the pile of my clothing.

Anyone ever carry to a Dr. appointment or exam?

David, I hope everything goes well in your consultation. In Kansas, pro-gunners passed a much better CC law that, with a few exclusions, outlaw businesses from banning CCH holders. Only if they have security or metal detectors will they be allowed to prohibit now, although some were granted a 1-4 year period to determine the ability to set up required security and get it installed. Before, my Doctor's offices had the prohibition so I left it in the car.
-----Now, they don't prohibit CC so I carry my Ruger LC9 in a pocket holster. It is concealed and best of all, the clinic staff never even know I am carrying but I have protection, if needed. Don't you still have an SR9C? I just checked out my SR40C in my Uncle Mike's pocket holster. It fits fine and all of the 40C is inside my jeans pocket, although it prints some. I think I could find another pair of pants or possibly a pair of my cargo pants that might work better for fit. The best thing is then I don't have to worry about keeping it covered up with my clothes or it falling off the chair somehow. Your SR9C is the same size as my 40C so you might be able to use a pocket holster temporarily. Keep in mind that when they weigh you, "you" will weigh 24+ ounces heavy. Good luck with the doctor.

I have and the Dr noticed it under my jacket on a chair and we spent more time talking about concealed carrying and the gun he carries then the health reasons I was in there for.The best Dr office visit I ever had. Besides all that he thought I gained some weight!lol

That's just what I've done, both at chiropractor and clinic for DOT physical. Leave my weapon under my pile of clothes. I think most medical people are pretty respectful of your stuff and your privacy.

Never thought about pocket carry just for the appointment. That may end up being an option. I'll check my shorts to see how the SR9c fits.
I traditionally do not change my method or point of carry but I feel confident that for the short amount of time it would need to become a pocket pistol I can adapt.
I'm the kind of person who rarely ends up in a situation like this.
Heck, Sometimes Restrooms are a bit daunting for a place to hang or rest a gun.
