What’s on Your ‘What-If’ Gun Shopping List?

If there has been one bright spot in the economy of the last several years, it has been in the firearms sector. Ruger, Smith & Wesson, just about any gun company you can name has been doing darn well, if not seeing record sales numbers.

The why of these increased sales is a matter of some debate, but whether it is solely or partially due to fears of anti-gun laws, politics is a huge factor. It’s been said that President Barack Obama has been the greatest gun salesman ever, because fears of what he might do based upon comments he has made have driven people to get while the getting is good.

While anti-gun legislation is a non-starter in the current political climate, there are a lot of worries that Obama, if he stays in office, will proceed with anti-gun efforts. Lame duck presidents who don’t have to worry about re-election have always been less constrained to court popular opinion.

Fellow gun writer and SWAT cop Jason Teague recently sent out an email to a group of us like-minded folk wondering what might be on our shopping lists if Obama is re-elected. I found the responses interesting, as they fell into several categories.

I still have some of the POS magazines I bought for my AR and 10/22 during the Clinton ban. Not only were they 5 to 6 times the price but they were crap quality. Thanks for the bad memories.

I'm going to have to go buy some pmags.

The only thing on my list is possibly an AR-15. With limited rifle ranges available, I'm not sure if I'll ever pull the trigger - so to speak.

Love to have mini gun, evens the score with Zombe mob. Twin minis would be even better, I could save the world, OK at least the neighborhood

Handguns to scatter around the house, a shotgun or two, medium range arm (e.g., AK47) and maybe a long range 30.06. A layered defense is an effective tool.

Since I live in a state with a ridiculous ban already. On my list is a Pre-ban AR lower and several more mags.

So with Obama's comments wanting to reinstate a permanent ban does your what if list became a buy now?

M1A, maybe another .45 auto this time an R.O. Need 2 x shotguns but right now it juz ain't gonna happen.

Few more AKs, some more SKSs, maybe an AR or two... half a dozen 92FSs, perhaps a PSL and another Mosin or three... umm, a sh!t load of spare mags and enough rounds to build a house...

Happy hunting!

I need something in the category of "reach out and touch someone " and then my collection (though small) will have what I believe to give me a fighting chance at survival.

Like this? :p

I still need a high powered hunting rifle or 2 and a 10/22 break down but I want an SA XDS, another Colt Delta Elite or Kimber's version, a snub 357 (S&W 340/360, Ruger SP101) and a S&W 44. I have the basics and a couple extras but the XDS and a 30.06 or similar are top priority.

I should have been buying more when I was employed. Anyone interested in buying a guitar so I can fulfill at least one of my wishes on a high power rifle or the XDS?

I want one of those 12 gauge SMR shotguns with a shell tube that rotates with 4 tubes with 18 shells. It runs under the barrel like a regular shell tube and not some awkward round mag or banana mag that holds 5 anyway. It has rails for furniture. There is an after market laser that projects eight points and can adjust for distance and spread for type of load. So four zombies merging in front get a rain of steel shot inside the laser circle. Way kool home protection. There is a short barrel version with less shells for manuvering in building.:dirol::dirol:
