what you wear

Being a marine, I have all kinds of caps and shirts with marine "sayings" and " Mottos". The other day I was going to it on my marines cap that says "we are the ultimate in body piercing". After some thought and considering I was going to be carrying, I decided not to wear that particular cap. Does anyone else not wear a particular piece of clothing because it might reject poorly in the eyes of law enforcement if you ever had to use your weapon and explain yourself? I mean, wearing a shirt that says "kill them all, let god sort them out" can't look good after a deadly force encounter.

Easy to say no to wearing provocative clothing that insinuates violence, particularly if you are CC. I am sure repliers following me will say that they can do exactly that. To each his own. This is, in a way, the same argument that the forum has had with traffic stops and the need to inform if your state does not require same. You do not have to do many things in this world and you have an absolute right not to do them--but sometimes yada yada.

:yes4: I wear what I want, when I want, PC is not my style. I am old enough to do what I want as long as it does not harm anyone else.

I've had my car vandalized because I had a political bumper sticker on it,

There was a very well publicized case here in Co Springs, in which a Ltc. from Fort Carson was caught spray painting " F--- YOU " on cars W/ Bush bumper stickers.

My wife was chased from one end of town to the other by a phsycotic woman who took offence at a bumper sticker on her car. This was actually the catalyst that turned my wife from an anti back to the light side.

I've even had people gripe about my Cabella's bumpersticker.

I don't advertise my political leanings , my religous beliefs, or my status as a gun owner. I don't wear logoed clothing (except for a Cabella's hat) I don't even put bumper stickers on my roll away.

It isn't worth the hassel & people seem to think it's an invitation to interject their opinion on what ever bumper sticker / T-shirt / hat / brand of tool, I may have a logo on.

The rear of my car is pristine, but if I chose to begin stickering my bumper, I would be more subtle and stealthy about it. No outright "I AM THE NRA AND I VOTE" type stuff. More like the philosophical and even misleading. Like I'm sure everyone's seen minivans and SUVs with stick figures on the rear glass that are meant to depict all the members of the family, including pets, often with first names underneath. They're one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. If someone wanted to kidnap a child, or rob an upper-middle-class family, what better intelligence to gather than the names of the principle targets? Anyway, as a single person, living alone, I would put up stick figures that have no resemblance to my living conditions, but are subtle pro-gun icons. Like the parents, Dan and Suzie (my name's not Suzie), and those stick figures have what looks like handguns in their hands, and then the teenaged Jodi with what looks like a scoped rifle slung on her shoulder, and young Miles who looks like he's holding a shotgun at port arms. 99 times out of 100, people wouldn't even give them a second look.

My favorite shirt says the same thing my avatar does. It's what I believe. If someone dont like, I really dont give a rats azz.:dirol:

One of my favorite ball caps is a Colt logo cap. I really never thought it actually created much attention.

But I live in a small SD where 3 of my neighbors are State Troopers, 1 is a County Deputy, and 1 is City LEO. I'm friendly with all of them. One evening while my wife and I were taking our evening walk, we stopped to chat with one of the Troopers. Somewhat to my surprise, the conversation fairly quickly turned to guns. He told me how fond he was of guns, described the ones he owned and wished he could afford more, and said he assumed I was a gun enthusiast because he had seen me wearing the Colt cap.

He also told me that all the LEOs in the SD knew which neighbors had carry permits.

I also used to have my NRA decal in the back window of my truck, but a few years ago I decided that was just an open invitation to a thief.

Completely generic for me. No statement, no hassles!

I am considering a T- shirt saying 'I'm with Stupid' with an arrow pointed at my face.

I don't wear T-shirts to town and my caps are usually from the local feed store or telephone/electric company. I don't use bumper stickers but my rear windows sport small NRA stickers.
If what you're wearing tips the scale on a shooting investigation, it's likely there are some other issues involved, too.

I tend to wear clothing that gives me quick access to my firearm as well as places to stow extra mags and a pocket knife etc...I try not to advertise anything. To me it's better to be underestimated and over produce than to be flashy and revealing...

I'm not a bumper sticker type, nor one to wear "statements" on shirts, etc.

Last year after encountering one too many rude people, I thought of creating my own T-shirt with big bold, "You'd be more polite" and underneath that in smaller print, "If you knew what was under my coat."

Discretion being the better part of valor, I decided against it. No need to advertise. I'm not looking for a fight.

I will wear whatever I want to wear. Shirts that have snarky quotes or marijuana leaves doesn't really fit my style. I do like to wear firearms attire though.

I'm a Marine also, as far as my clothing I don't have anything provocative. My truck has usmc plates, sgt chevrons, and a"don't tread on me hitch cover". I do stay away from gun stickers and pro gun organizations stickers on my truck. I don't want anyone getting any ideas about breaking into my truck because they see a nra sticker in my truck.

Retired Army sticker on my car. I don't wear any gun related clothing. I'm always carrying and prefer to go unnoticed

I'm sorry but that bothers me, are you saying that the cops in your neighborhood did some extracurricular snooping on their neighbors?

Usually wearing clothing that has Harley Davidson on it or my Honorable Few/Marine Corps League Sweatshirt. Truck Has small USMC decal and Marine Corps League Decal. nothing else

Like it or not, the list of permit holders is a matter of public record in NC. Anyone can go down to the court house and see who has a carry permit.

"In North Carolina, the fact that you’re a concealed carry permit holder is a public record. More than 240,000 North Carolinians have applied for and been awarded concealed carry permits."
http://www.chetson.com/2011/12/concealed-carry-permits-in-north-carolina/

NC residents are also required to get a permit to purchase a handgun, prior to purchasing one (Carry permit holders are exempted from this requirement) Some years ago, the (Raleigh) News and Observer published the names and addresses of citizens that had been issued purchase permits each week. After a lot complaints from the public, they finally discontinued publishing that info.

I don't like it but that's a little different than using their police authority to snoop on their neighbors, which is what your post seemed to imply
