I am looking to Open Carry my Ruger GP100 6" revolver. What brand, width is the best for this heavy carry gun? I am interest to hear what others are doing. Are you threading this belt through you belt loops on pants or just hanging it around your waist as an auxiliary belt?

My gun belt was made by The Beltman. Kind of pricey, but I've had mine for at least six years, carry every single day, and there are no "fold-overs" in the areas where pressure from various holsters would be visible on lesser belts. I do use the belt with the belt loops on my pants. I only hang an loose belt around my waist when I'm wearing sweats and am walking the dog out in the back yard. I never wear sweats out in public though, so otherwise, it's always the Beltman belt threaded through the loops.

Thanks for the info. I will check out Beltman.

I use a Link Removed, which I weave through my belt loops and my holster.

I have used leather and synthetic belts, and from my experience, the width doesn't help as much as the stiffness. The material is great either way, just a preference as to what you like better. The only thing I found width to change, is the size of belt loops on my pants and holsters. I tend to lean to 1.5" because they will fit nearly every holster and pants...1.75" - 2" you need to be careful on what you are trying to slide the belt through.

That makes a lot of sense. I do find that my current leather belt tends to sag or strain under the weight of the GP100. It actually rolls the leather over. Having a stiffener in side the belt would help with that. Thank you. I will check this one out as well.
