What Training do you have?

I felt this kind of posting felt into a Survival type setting, but, Im curious, when SHTF what kind of training will you have to help you survive? I have 5 years as an Infantrymen in the US Army, I have training in IFA (Individual First Aid) CQC (Close Quarters Combat) with long and short guns, Clearing rooms (of course) Some outdoor survival (hunting and trapping) Communications, Counter Tracking, etc.

I thought it would be cool and see other levels of training to try and make myself better, whether it be go find personal training from a trainer etc. I feel I need better training on outdoor survival techniques as far as purifying water, starting fires, although Ive always got a number of lighters on me usually upwards of 4 plus a zipo people keep stealing my lighters lol, and I feel I could do a little better in radio communications, meaning I feel it would be in my best interest in learning how to build a short wave radio and gaining some sort of short wave frequency.

Any suggestions? What training do you have, and why did you get it?

I secured the following training, because I have my concealed firearm carry license:
• NRA- Personal Protection In The Home
• NRA- Personal Protection Outside The Home
• NRA- PPOH (Advanced)
• NRA- Range Safety Officer
• NRA- Certified Instructor (Rifle and Pistol)
• TFT Combat training

Side note: I am weak with survival training and could use courses in that area. Thanks for your service Itstjs. Jim......out.

Ten years in the Army. CHL training. Basic defensive pistol training. Grew up a country boy who would rather hunt and fish than watch TV.

I'm a Vietnam vet, have had a CCW for over 20 years, had 7 courses at Front Sight in Nevada soon to be 9, a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) member, twice trained, and Red Cross First Aid with AED certification. An amateur radio operator and a member of ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service).

Seems like we all could use a little extra survival training, in the modern society, seems as if we have lost all of our "survival instincts" Im with you on that. Side note thank you for your support. =]

Seven years Combat Medic in US Army, Army Guard, Air Guard. Escape & Evasion courses in Army & Air Force. Correctional Officer & Deputy Sheriff 20 + years. Cop in Air Force 14 years. I keep several copies of Military Survival manuals (actual manuals from the Armed Forces) from US & Foreign military. I also keep a copy of my Boy Scout Manual handy. LOL. And I spent my formative years growing up in the mountains of Western NC. It was a fact of life to hunt and fish because, sometimes, if you didn't, there would be no meat. We had our own garden (hated hoeing & weeding) and we usually raised at least one calf and two pigs for butchering (which we did ourselves since the FDA was not as big or as nosy back then).
Sorry for the long post.

Not long at all. You are welcome at my house anytime.

US Army - 72~76. Been hunting and fishing all my life.

Currently run a crew that does trash out of foreclosed properties in SE MI (read that as Detroit & Flint as examples) so constantly honing my situation awareness skills!

I didn't touch a real gun until June 2010. I'm behind the curve. I didn't start until I was 46.

I have my CHL in Texas and waiting on my Virginia NomResident.

I've never hunted. So I'm screwed there.

I'm working with an NRA instructor to take more classes. I'm committed to learning all I can.
