(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said only the federal government should have “high-capacity” gun magazines and that the “state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.”

The lawmaker told CNSNews.com that he not only supports prohibiting the future sale of 10-round gun magazines, but he would like to confiscate high-capacity clips already legally possessed by American citizens.

CNSNews.com then asked, “But if a bill was brought up and passed to ban high-capacity clips would the military still be allowed to use them?”

“Of course, the military would be allowed to use them,” Nadler said.

“So only the government would be allowed to have high-capacity clips?” CNSNews.com asked.

“Yes.”

“But let me say, yes,” Nadler added. “One of the definitions of a nation state is that the state has a monopoly on legitimate violence. And the state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.”

“If the premise of your question is that people are going to resist a tyrannical government by shooting machine guns at American troops, that’s insane,” he said.

Jerrold Nadler is an example of what is wrong with our government today. He is totally out of touch with reality and is only dreaming if he thinks the people of this country will knuckle under to a heavy handed government. I think you have made this point before, and I agree with you. We seriously need an intelligence test for voters. Of course that would interfere with the right to vote for many people. Just like some would like to interfere with the 2nd amendment rights of lawful citizens.

You can vote in term limits in your State. There are at least 24 States that have passed term limits. This legislation comes into effect when 26 States sign on. So just one or two of your States need to sign on to wipe out half of these legislators. We're waiting on you.

Though term limits go against everything that I believe in, the quality of American citizen has dropped to the point that I am beginning to warm to the idea.

I am a firm believer in the old adage, "be careful what you wish for". Though Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, etc, etc, really scare me, I am truly afraid of the freaks that could come from the electorate of those districts if they have to find totally new representatives every four-six years.
