What an experience!

My wife and I were at the indoor range this weekend. We both wanted to work on our trigger control so we loaded up the .22's and off we went.

There were the usual suspects, .38's, .40's a .45 and us with our .22's. The gent in the range next to the one my wife occupied was shooting a .45 and had gone through a box or 2 of what seemed to be standard loads. Then out of nowhere everyone in the range got punched in the chest!

I have never experienced a Desert Eagle .50AE in an indoor range. All I can say is WOW! After the 2nd round no one else on the range was shooting. All eyes were pointed in one direction. After the 3rd round the observation window was full of people from the store want to see what it was. After the 5ht round, he said "that's enough" and packed it up.

I watched from behind and was surprised at how manageable the DE seemed.

I had a very similar experience a couple of weekends ago. The Desert Eagle thundered the range and the guy shooting it was having a hard time dealing with the recoil. I had to stop and watch. He only got three rounds off before raising the white flag and packing it away. I watched him walk out while he was rubbing his shooting hand. That DE whopped him hard!

My ex-wife and I used to have a .460 S&W. The full power loads that I used to load for it were like small nuclear blasts going off. We used to shoot at H&H indoor gun range in Oklahoma City. She would shoot 15 or 20 rounds at a time. The flame from the cylinder gap would leave scorch marks on the walls between the shooting booths. The whole place would stop when she was shooting. More times than I could count some great big Oklahoma beef fed guy would say something like, "WTH was that?!?" ".460, want to try it?" "Hell no!" I personally love the big caliber guns.

The ex-wife stole the .460 while I was in Iraq and sold it prior to the divorce trial. Now I can't afford to buy a big boomer. A big boomer is excellent to practice trigger control with. If you can not flinch while squeezing a .460 S&W off, you won't flinch on anything.

Same exact experience with my in laws at a range after my father in law received his s&w 500. What a fun gun to shoot!

Probably lucky it wasn't a .500 S&W with some of John Ross' "Thunderbolt" loads.

Had a friend who worked for Magnum Research was gonna get me one for his cost... I decided to invest elsewhere .... he doesn't work there anymore and I kick myself for not taking advantage ..... I did pick up a baby eagle 40 tho and a airsoft clone of a 50 from MagnumR and man that thing puts holes in pop cans.... lol

Hey, I've fired off that. 460 S&W, it had a performance barrel on it. I think my buddy gave like 1200.00 for it.

That is a real cannon and its exactly as you describe. I remember being amused watching the grass swoosh back when my friend would fire it from a standing position and he's like 6'2 lol.

We took video and still framed it, the fireball is massive around the cylinder and your hands, very nice piece.

Surprising thing was the gent with the DE was about 75 or older and he did manage to not let it hit him in the forehead! Man it kicked like a mule!

I sure do miss that gun. We just had the standard model.
