10mm

Rich M,

I'm glad I found your post pertaining to the 10mm. I spent the past Several weeks researching different 10mm's
what I came up with was 2 different Models.
#1- the Glock G-20 10MM
#2-the Colt Commander 10mm

After visiting several Gun Stores,Gun shows, Web Pages I ended up Purchasing the Glock G20 10mm Not only because of the price, but because of the way the weapon felt in my hand. I was able to shoot a few rounds through the Glock G20, but was unable to shoot the colt.

The first reaction After I shot the Glock was (WOW) I could not believe the Power that the weapon had, it is a barker and after reading all the Ballistic reports I could find, I would not want to be on the recieving, business end of that weapon. The Colt also was an nice weapon but it was allot heavyer than I expected, and the price was allot more.

I purchased the Glock on Monday March 12,2012 and since then I have put roughly 100 rounds through it without any problems. Im still experimenting with different Ammo to find rounds for Protection, and general practise shooting

As soon as I locked down those rounds I will let you know, But if you decide to purchase the Glock you will not be Dis-appointed. Thumbs up to Glock for making an excellent Weapon.

Good luck on whatever way you go. but lean towards the Glock G-20 you will be very happy you did.

Can't go wrong with a Glock 20, but why dump all the $$$ on the ammo to feed it, 10mm ain't cheap!

trophyhunter; Thanks for the great info. The Colt Delta Elite is just flat out pretty. I saw the weight numbers and was a bit apprehensive. The other consideration was the G29 (SubCompact). I'll be headed to a local shop (Wades Guns, Bellevue Wa) to run a few rounds thru a rental before I buy and will try both the 20 and 29 if they have both available.

snatale42, I have 22's and a 9mm for plinking. Im just looking to upgrade my daily carry. The 10mm ammo is a little more than double for the 9mm target ammo. ($189 for 1000 9mm vs $205 for 500 10mm) I dont plan on running thousands of rounds thru it normally, but a bunch will deffinatley be headed down range for sure. Besides... a 44mag or a 50 A&E are just to hard to conceal.

Thanks folks.

I have the Kimber 10mm. I didn't buy it for protection just to collect it. Ammo is expensive and I don't reload, so that's a major problem. I will probably never take the gun to a tactical course because I can't imagine spending over 30 bucks a box for a course where I would need an average of 1500 to 2000 rounds. Good thing about the Kimber is that it's built on the 1911 platform, so you can practice with a 1911 .45 to improve your skills. Saying all that, I have one, don't carry it and rarely shoot it.

Get yourself a .40 caliber, its basically the same size as 10mm but the ammo is much cheaper. And the recoil is much more manageable.

I have a S&W 1006 and I absoulutely love it. Unfortunately the "Powers the Be" at S&W have discontinued the 3rd gen semi-autos and are not offering anything newer chambered for 10mm. You may be able to find a used S&W 3rd gen but they can be a little pricey, most people who have them don't want to part with them. I have shot a Glock 20 and I really was not impressed, (it just didn't feel right in my hands but that was just me) There are some other choices available for 10mm, but given the cost of ammo you may be better off looking at a .40 S&W instead. Good luck with your search.

I have the G29, and to be honest it is a bit thick for CC, but the grip is too short for me to shoot well. I am looking at getting the G20 SF, as the grip is a little bit slimmer than the G20, but still in the full size frame. For me this feels much better, so if you are uncomfortable with the feel of the 20 check out the SF.

Feed the Glock any kind of ammo...They are not picky!

The Colt will have less recoil due to the fact it is a heavier gun...

Just comes down to your preference....The way a weapon feel sin my hands is a big deal to me.

I do not have a 10mm. I have a Glock 27 40 cal and a Para Warthog 45 cal.

I don't own one yet, but I've narrowed my own list down to the Colt Delta Elite (currently *trying* to get one of the new ones, with the revised slide) as the one I want and the Kimber as my backup plan if I just can't get ahold of a Colt...

If you just want to shoot weak 10mm, there's a lot more options available, but if you might be shooting a lot of full-load 10mm, those seem to be the only ones currently in production that haven't been suffering failures due to design/material weakness (and even the Colt has issues with slide cracking on full-load if it's not the notched one!).

hey

The 10mm & .40 are so much alike you cant tell the difference in them but for costs of ammo. I had a 10mm and sold it now i have 7 .40 cals and love the

I agree with most commercial ammo, there is little difference between 10mm and .40S&W. You can get much hotter 10mm loads from smaller manufacturers like Underwood. After shooting those hotter loads, you will be able to tell the difference between the 10mm and .40S&W.
