Westchester County License Info?

Hey Everybody,

Great site. I live in Westchester County and applied for my pistol permit mid July, with target restriction. I know CC is pretty tough to get here so I figured I'd start with a basic license. It's coming on 5 months now and I'm getting antsy.

Does anyone know more or less how long it is taking in Westchester Co right now? The officer who fingerprinted me told me they have been averaging 4 months but it is obviously past that now. If I call to ask and get an update, can it be detrimental to my licensing? Also, the application states pretty clearly that they have to give me the license within 6 months but it seems like it takes a while longer for people here at times. They aren't held to that?

I know I may get a bunch of the usual.. NY sucks, go move comments. That's not going to happen over a handgun obviously.. there are quite a lot of great reasons for me to stay here unfortunately.

That truly is unfortunate. Handguns is just one of a plethora of reasons why the sociialist republic of NY sucks. I used to live in Schoharie county and it took 6 months just to get a restricted permit. Had to be a NY resident for at least a year and have 3 signatures of residents who would vouch for my law abiding integrity. Had to wait an additional three years of an unrestricted permit but I moved to AZ and got my permit in 30 days. NY state turned permits over to the county judges and they don't even need a reason to deny you one. I don't see why calling and asking about it can hurt you but hey, it's NY and anything can happen.

NYS Application

This may sound dumb but I want to get it right....

The NY S pistol permit asks color of eyes, color of hair and race. What do you fill in for blue eyes, brown hair and white race??
