Well I finally pulled the trigger

Metaphorically that is. I had a post titled what to choose and the 3 guns where: the Kahr CM9, S&W M&P Shield or the Beretta Nano. Well the winner is none of them. I went with the Springfield XDS I know way off kilter but, I shot the gun and loved it now granted it was only a few shots. With ammo being what it is I didn’t want to shoot it anymore then I did. I didn't know the guy I was at the range saw the gun and started asking questions about it. Long story short he let me shoot it and that was it. Went to the LGS yesterday and paid for it but, unfortunately here in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey I need a pistol permit which in good times took about 3 weeks now who knows. The guy at the shop was good about it and said he’ll hold for as long as I need as long as it was paid in full so, that’s what I did. Used my Kel Tec PF9 as a trade been wanting to unload that gun for some time but, couldn’t get a fair price but, I did at this shop.

Good choice, I could bet you will be much happyer with it than any of the others

"Peoples Republic of New Jersey." That seriously made me laugh out loud. My spouse is from there and didn't see the humor in it. It is what it is. Great choice with the XDS! You'll never regret it!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya. Hope it doesn't take too many months . . . :(
What if they deny you the right to the permit?

I'm on a waiting list for 40 Shield

Put name on a waiting last April (2012) here in the PAC NW, finally received a call 2 days before my birthday in January 2013. Picked it up the next day and shot it on my birthday : ) Awesome little handgun, very accurate and it has been flawless except the 1st two rounds; now have about 300 rounds through it. It seems 40's are the harder to find one. Many places by me won't even take reservations, not even for the 9mm; last I heard the wait was 3 months or better. I have an M&P 40 Compact and that is xtremely nice to shoot; 10 round double stack. Never had a single problem with that one. I think the 2 failures in my first mag with the Shield were my fault; since I have not had any since then.

Good choice. All three of those pistols are great but the XDs steals the show. I carry one quite often and enjoy taking it out for target practice and training. I also have a Kahr CW9 which I enjoy immensely.

Let's not forget New Jerkastan. I am just waiting my time hopefully in another 2 years I am out of here. I am hoping sooner but, more realistically 2 years.

Thanks but they can't deny the permit to purchase. O yea I said pistol purchase permit. Then you go to the LGS to buy and do a NICS check again after you just did the background check. What they do is sit on it until you bug them. I had a friend wait 2 months finally he'd call them and the next day they called him to pick it up. Now it was probably done in 30 days or less because by their own law they must produce the permit or a reason of denial within 30 days that happened to him twice. My township is pretty good in the past it’s been done in 3 weeks or less but, with everyone buying guns they are overloaded with permits and less personal. My LGS said i could pay for it and he'd hold it for how ever long I needed. I have no criminal record so, I'll get it it's just a matter of how long. to add insult to injury now the NICS checks are taking 2 weeks because the state police are overwhelmed and can't be done over the phone so it gets faxed. And that's on top of the pistol permit wait.

After having the PF9 for a while, I too could not get rid of it fast enough. I don't know about your experiences with it, but the firing pin wouldn't hit the primer hard enough sometimes and you'd have to recock the hammer to get it to work the 2nd time. Not something I wasn't to happen when I actually needed it. So I used mine as a trade for a Walther PPS .40. So far it's been the best trade I could have ever made!

Know what you mean I had problems getting used to the trigger, double feeding, failure to eject. Just didn't feel safe carrying it. It's true you get what you pay for. I bought 2 spare mags for it and they only held six rounds. i went on keltec's forum and seem to be the norm. I was fed up with the gun already so good bye keltec. The mags had a 7 bullet indicator but only held 6.
