Reports: Chicago shootings leave 9 dead, 28 wounded since just last Friday night.
At least nine people were killed and 28 others wounded in a spate of shootings since Friday night in Chicago, according to local reports.
'We're basically treading water'
In the midst of the violence, Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy defended his department's anti-violence strategy. "We're not winning, we're not losing. We're basically treading water," McCarthy said on Saturday. He said that in the month of August, "we had some trouble because some of these retaliatory shootings are happening quicker than we can stop them."

Still don't know why that state's holding out. Allowing good people to carry guns would help their situation.

Chicago will say that there are too many guns on the street and limit us even more in the State Senate. They won't realize that by legally arming their citizens, the crooks will think twice if they wonder if everyone is armed. Plus, the gangs don't care either way. They will always get a gun and will use it against other rival gangs. That's not going to stop. It's just all the innocent peole getting hurt in the mean time. Nobody else is shooting back, so it's a target rich environment.

My guesstimate would be around 85%-90% are probably gang related.
