Aside from Romney saying so himself in the video I posted above, I wonder why the press release issued to announce the signage of the permanent AWB in MA says in the very title of the document:

ROMNEY SIGNS OFF ON PERMANENT ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN

That's a link to the archived press release that came from Governor Romney's own desk.

You say the bill he signed was "better" for gun-owners. Document that please. What amount of registration and licensing to get permission to exercise a fundamental right is "better" than another amount? A 90 day "grace period" to renew your license is the price of your rights? Extending from four to six years the licensing and ID renewal requirements is somehow less injurious to your rights? I'd seriously like to hear how anything in a permanent gun ban piece of legislation could be "better" for gun owners than having the previous legislation sunset as it was intended.

And BTW, you have it exactly backwards; the existing gun ban legislation was temporary and had a sunset clause just like the federal bill it was patterned after. Romney is the only one who could have stopped the far-left legislation in its tracks, and as such, is the only one who made it permanent.

Any so-called "conservative" who consorts and compromises with far-leftists is, himself, a far-leftist. Any other analysis is simply making excuses for betrayal and treason to the Constitution.

Except the guy who signed one, signed one the local gun groups signed off on (stupidly) and has said he will not ban any guns. The other guy says he wants a ban and his Administration sold and gave guns to Mexican gangs in order to have a story to sell gun bans.

I read an article a few weeks ago, which stated that his intent is to go after all semi autos , and that is just the beginning. You must take into consideration this man will not have to
face the voters again and he will come after all the above and more.

If I can locate the article I will post it. Also his backers are such groups as the supporters of Brady bill and the ruthless gun haters like Bloomberg ,to name just a few.
If you check the NRA files it will list all of them and their agenda.

On top of limiting what you could do with your gun, I think you are calling that cosmetic, which was a might big PITA. Ask any one that owns a AR15 in California if you need clarification on that point. I still need to get my Bushmasters barrel threaded, the one I bought during that fiasco.

It BANNED threaded barrels for pistols..... so no pistol suppressors. It banned any pistol with a magazine outside the grip... so many models of pistol.... gone. BANNED any semi auto version of a full auto pistol....gone!

Nope, you misunderstood his intent. He was telling the other poster that it was on semi-autos and based on appearance in many cases. The rest is was I agree with and liked.

And for those who wonder how 0 could do it in a next term, read the current edition of the NRA's America's First Freedom. It lays out exactly how a Constitution hating, Congress hating, SCOTUS hating president could try and institute a gun ban ( anything bigger than a .22 revolver basically ) by using the DOJ and BATFE along with liberal Federal judges.

i dont think that it will stop any sort of crime or the ability for people to get their hands on the weapons they want to buy. the discussion hasn't been about right or wrong of the laws, but about the man that says he wants one and the guy who already made it happen.

i'd much rather vote for someone else than these two, but that's what we've been given. yes obama said he wants an AWB, but romney isn't as pro guns as he leads others to believe either. neither is right and both have done things to suppress guns in their own right. look at Blue's posts in here. he despises obama, yet shows the fallacies of the other nominee. people need to get off this one side or the other BS. it's never as cut and dry as they make it out to be.
