Plants are running full bore.I wonder about ammunition production.
Good post, riderbike. Main thing is that she is comfortable with using the weapon. Also the quote from Heinlein is one of my favorites. Lot of people never read the book, but the entire quote is even better: "An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life."I believe it. My wife just two days ago bought a Taurus 85 ultralite revolver. She's been looking for months for an S&W .38 special bodyguard, after she shot one last year, but nobody has them, so she elected to get the Taurus to wring-out, and see if she needs a laser for it later.
She doesn't feel safe after an incident with a casing-out for invasion at the front door. I was there, but don't think I could have taken others who were in the van parked in our driveway. She slammed the door, and I waited, they left, license plate was so trashed I couldn't get numbers, and there were no hostilities, so I blew it off...for about 5 minutes. I then made a short trip and purchased my only long gun. Effective against multiple armed home invaders.
It's a pathetic state of affairs when criminals are running roughshod over their victims, raping, robbing, murdering, home invading and carjacking, and our administration has collectively lost its mind with nothing but gun control as its most important agenda, it would seem.
My wife is scared of my long gun, even though I let her shoot it at an outdoor range where it could stretch it legs. She did quite well, but still feels safer with the .38 special. All I may do is respect her for that, and at least she has something she feels comfortable with. Something is better than nothing.
I hope the firearm sales continue to top the charts. A well armed society, is a polite society, until a criminal intends to murder a victim. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
Too bad she wasn't near here. We have one in stock. We also have a Taurus. And a Ruger. The S&W and Ruger both have lasers and are .38 SPL +P rated. The Taurus isn't.I believe it. She would have bought one! I wanted her to get the Ruger SP101, but nothing to be found anywhere here, and she thought it was too heavy.Too bad she wasn't near here. We have one in stock. I am a Ruger Fan. That started with my dad who had one of the first 493 Ruger Blackhawk 44 Magnums ever produced. The factory burnt to the ground during production and when they retooled the design was different. It was a Beautiful Gun. After a Motorcycle accident that almost killed him my mom had to sell all his guns. The Gun store gave my mother $100.00 each for the Ruger, his Colt Army Revolver, and his Winchester Model 94. I'm sick to this day over it. At 15 years old I became the sole support of my mom, dad, and 2 sisters. So, With Colts out of my price range its all about Rugers.
I am looking for a properly priced Mini 14 but I think my wife wants that to remain a dream.
It does my heart good to see Ruger doing so well.
At the tender age of 15 you stepped up and became the sole support of your family. I don't know you, but I'm proud of you. Your the kind of man America needs. Way to man up!
There also people/companies that will work for ammo too.I've had people selling motorcycles on Craigslist express they're interested in trade... I call 'em to ask what sorta trade... three people so far have asked if I had either an AR or AK I'd be willing to trade.
I say no, b/c the extras I have... are my extras, heh heh. I don't need another motorcycle bad enough to give up an AK w/ ammo. It goes to show what some people are willing to do to get those 'evil assault weapons'... or 'personal defense weapons'... whichever side of the gov't dole you fall on I suppose.

We went looking for a handgun for her about a year ago, everyone had everything, but now hardware is dried-up here. OH! The Taurus 85 UltraLite is +P rated. I believe their lighter airweight model isn't, and I suggested she not buy it because of that. I personally felt it was too light, like the S&W Bodyguard.
I would have liked a semi-auto in her hands, but one of her arms and wrist suffered damage in a car accident, and she can't rack a semi slide. My XD-S, she could barely pull the slide out of battery. Tried coaching with push-pull technique and opposite arm technique, and she had success at times, but most of the time no. Even an instructor couldn't get her over the hump.
I may have her do hand and grip exercises with my spring hand squeezies, as she sometimes holds off center when she pulls the trigger. Had to order some ammo online, none to be had here, so waiting on that before a range trip. Had her try all caliber semis, but nogo! She wasn't bothered by the .38 special Bodyguard's recoil, although a bit pushy. (range had a rental last year), but my XD-S, she only shot once and said no more? Nevermind. I had +Ps in the XD-S at the time. Here is the link to the one she bought:
