I've killed many a pig and cow with a gun....never a person.
I'm on your side. My guns have killed a number of different animals. Non of them human.
Being surrounded by all that metal gives them a superior sense of security, even though it is virtually 100% delusional on their part.
When they are exposed to a weapon, holstered or not, that delusional sense of security most people maintain conflicts with the reality that they are not secure and in fact are exposed.
This results in an irrational fear of the weapon based on previous conditioning by "the media" which takes advantage of this human foible to generate ratings which are revenue.

Here's a scary thought. Johnny is angry. Angry at the world for his lousy life. Johnny is also nuts. He's so nuts he can't get a gun. Cause Johnny is on the federal nutjob list. And most guns have now been banned by the new O administration anyway. But Johnny has a drivers license. And he has an idea. He rents a Ford Excursion from the local Avis and drives on over to the campus. The campus where people laugh at him and teachers don't understand him. There's 30,000 full-time students on that campus. He waits until the 15 minute break between classes and points his 4,000 pound weapon toward the college green. The headlines read "84 Mowed Down by Lunatic at State University!" The liberal pundits ask "what made Johnny do this?" "Was it the rap music? Video games? Violence on TV? Should we ban these things?" Nahhh. Johnny was nuts, remember? What happened to being nuts, that's no longer an option? One can never stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. It's Insane!!!!

That's not the salient issue for open carrying.
The salient issue is that 60% of the US population is non-gun owning.
Whereas 100% drive vehicles etc.
If 100% were gun owning and gun carrying, then it would not matter, such as back in the days of the Wild West.
But this is not the Wild West. Therefore CCW is more appropriate today.
Because out of sight is out of mind for the 60%.

Well if you want to kill a whole lot of people at once then you need some kind of bomb, sure. McVeigh proved that already with his truck bomb. His bodycount was 168 killed and 800+ injured. That record has only been exceeded in the USA by bin Laden and Yamamoto. Bin Laden currently owns the record, with 4 jetliners. Yamamoto is in second with a whole air wing attack on a military target.
The worlds record for a single attack goes to Truman, Tibbits, and Sweeney, for the atomic bombs dropped on Japan.
But that has nothing to do with assault rifles or open carrying of handguns. Un-related.

My 45ACP pistol is designed to kill humans, and when I take police sponsored shooting classes, we aim for the triangle between the eyes and the nose.
My 44 magnum revolver is designed to kill animals, as is my 300 RUM scoped rifle.
My 12 gauge shotgun can kill anything, either way. Even stop a mob in a riot.

What Einstien told you that. Been teaching LEO a long time. Have spent a lot of time at police ranges. Short of sniper work I've never seen this or even heard of it. Some advice... should you ever be involved in a shooting and your computer is named in the search warrant, this statement will be found during a digital forensic examination. You can't delete it, ever, and it's an admission against your penal interest.

Your "45ACP pistol" is not designed to kill humans. It is designed to take in .45 caliber bullets and discharge them at a high velocity, eject the spent casing, and prepare another .45 caliber bullet for discharge upon the operator pulling the trigger.
How you decide to use that capability is your choice. Likewise for your other guns.

Actually it was designed to stop drugged up Filipinos. Did not matter if they were dead, as long as their attacks were stopped. The .38s being wholly inadequate for the job.
