Watch What Happened When Australia Banned Guns

Interesting bit of anecdotal evidence to add to the existing volumes concerning the abject idiocy of heavily restricting and/or banning firearms:

what a shame i just hope that shyt don't happen here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edit ..if it does i'll have to invest on mega cans of wasp spray!!!!!!

Liberals don't care about facts nor do they care if their policies provide solutions. The euphoria of their good intention trump everything. For that they can run around showing how much they care. The voting public eats this stuff up and thus they win elections.

That's a pretty good article. I wonder where they get their statistics from? Not that I doubt them; I don't.
I just like to have the ability to reference such things, because there are those who will dismiss the article if the sources aren't there.

If they ever take my legally owned firearms...I guess then, I will have to be a person that owns illegal ones...

yeah, I saw this video...makes me wonder who's left?..as far as "free" countries go...

kinda' scary- thinking maybe we're the last in the world with a right to have a gun.

With just a casual scan of the internet, I found this article from the National Center for Policy Analysis. Note that this article was written in 2009 so the figures are most likely different now. This article conradicts the assertions of the anti-gunners in this country.

AUSTRALIA: MORE VIOLENT CRIME DESPITE GUN BAN

It is a common fantasy that gun bans make society safer. In 2002 -- five years after enacting its gun ban -- the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime. In fact, the percent of murders committed with a firearm was the highest it had ever been in 2006 (16.3 percent), says the D.C. Examiner.

Even Australia's Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acknowledges that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime:
•In 2006, assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.
•Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.
•Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.

Moreover, Australia and the United States -- where no gun-ban exists -- both experienced similar decreases in murder rates:
•Between 1995 and 2007, Australia saw a 31.9 percent decrease; without a gun ban, America's rate dropped 31.7 percent.
•During the same time period, all other violent crime indices increased in Australia: assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.
•Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.
•Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.
•At the same time, U.S. violent crime decreased 31.8 percent: rape dropped 19.2 percent; robbery decreased 33.2 percent; aggravated assault dropped 32.2 percent.
•Australian women are now raped over three times as often as American women.

While this doesn't prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy. Furthermore, this highlights the most important point: gun banners promote failed policy regardless of the consequences to the people who must live with them, says the Examiner.

This is exactly what the progressives want... a disarmed, helpless society to be absolutley dependent on the gov't for everything. Even if it costs lives... err, it'll be acceptable collateral damage.

To be frank... it's phucking pathetic!

Thanks for that Oldgrunt. This is going to help me.
I'm always getting in debates with anti-gunners and this is great ammunition (no pun intended).

Why has the law against weapons not been repealed if crime rate percentages have increased so dramatically in Australia, if what is posted is correct then it is shameful and disgusting that politicians haven't corrected this. However , I must admit that it is common knowledge that the elected politicians don't have the balls to stand up to their piers and constintuiants and rarely if ever admit defeat or error. It is perfectly clear that politicians and governments don't want an armed society, why do you think? Similar laws coming to the U.S. Hell yes, they are going to try, and will succeed if everyone doesn't stick together.

This is wrong, at least allow guns for home protection and allow them to be loaded. Eveb better allow concealed carry.
Criminals always find ways to get guns.

Some humor... sorta...

Scenario 1:

BATFE- Knock, knock "It's the ATF! We don't have a warrant!"

Citizen- "Ah yes, come on in. Welcome, welcome."

BATFE- "Sir, where are your firearms? We're here to confiscate them!"

Citizen- "Firearms? What Firearms? I'm a progressive liberal and don't believe in self-defense."

BATFE- "Oh, well than okay. Glad you're on the team, be sure to report any conservative, bible hugging, gun owners to us."

Citizen- "Absolutely!"

BATFE- "Have a good day sir!"

Citizen- "You too!"

Scenario 2:

BATFE- Knock, knock "It's the ATF, we don't have a warrant!"

Citizen- Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

~Citizen walks out through his obliterated front door to the yard and finds a wounded ATF agent reaching for his sidearm, then points his rifle at him.~

Citizen- "You gotta ask yourself one question, did I fire 30 rounds or only 29? To be honest I lost count myself in all this excitement."

BATFE- ~Trembles in fear~

Citizen- "Well, do you feel lucky, punk?!"

~BATFE agent reaches for sidearm~

~Bang!~

I hope you thought this was humorous...
