Waiting time for CCL in Orange County, NY?

How Long is the wait? I finally finish the whole process in the end of May and was told it could be about 4 months before I get an answer. I was fingerprinted in Oct/Nov 2011 and came in December to follow up and hand in paperwork. But I had to explain a CRD I received. If the fingerprints came back Dec, 2011 then realistically how long for a decision?

Thanks

i completed my process the end of December 2011 and received my permit in the beginning of June 2012, so mine took about 6 months total. when i had my interview at the end of december they were still waiting for metal health check and a few other things, i have perfectly clean record too which helped. if you had to explain the CRD then the judge might want to see you in person unless that was done already, at that point its really just a matter of how busy the judge is to make his decision and sign off on the permit. good luck

Mental health records is what is taking the longest. Apparently someone in Albany retired with no replacement. But I already had my back ground check in by December. Because finger prints where done in September 2011. So I was hoping it would be sooner.

I had an interview with an investigator in end of May. Thats when i was told it could take four months. do you think I will still have to meet the judge? If I meet with an investigator for interview. I'm just confused. Thanks.

everyone has to meet with the sheriffs office or the investigator, not everyone has to meet with the judge, once the judge receives your permit he chooses if he wants to see you in person or not. this is why you provide two self adressed stamped envelopes, one if the judge wants to send you a letter saying he would like to meet with you and the other to send you the letter of approval or denial. since i did not get a letter saying i must see the judge and only recieved the letter stating my permit was approved, they included the extra envelope when sending my approval letter.

Some judges don't need to see you. In Orange, Judge Freehill only issues unrestricted permits and rarely wants to see anyone. He's a strong 2A supporter. Other judges (Jeff Berry) are also very friendly to the 2A.

I think my judge will be Derosa. Haven't heard much about him. But again I have only been here for 7 years. Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated information.
