Vote Yes Ohio Issue 2

I just received my vote no for issue 2 advertisement in the mail.

It said, "issue 2 takes away the voice of the teacher to negotiate for things that keep our children safe and successful".

For the life of me I don't understand how bankrupting our schools, raising our taxes, receiving more vacation days, less time in the classroom, earlier and better retirement benefits, do anything to help the children. It does ask them to pay 15% into their own benefit plan which some pay nothing in to, and then the taxpayers are asked to bail out their pension plan, why?

It says, "Teachers know best what each student needs to succeed".

What happened to parents know best? The liberal agenda in our classrooms are what got us to where we are now. What children needed to succeed at one time was available in our classrooms, self worth, morality, the true history of our great nation, along with Reading, Writing , and Arithmetic.

It says, "It could force teachers to do even more standardized testing".

What is wrong with that, it would show what teachers actually teach and what the children actually retain, that would be a basis for merit pay and not just pay increases due to longevity in the system.

It says, " it could mean more teacher layoffs including many of our best teachers".

I really doubt our best teachers will get laid off, it may remove some of the dead wood and let those that are really the best move forward.

As far as police and firemen on issue 2 , I respect and appreciate their sacrifices for us. Issue 2 Only asks them to pay at least 15 percent of their health insurance, "less" than half of what private sector workers are paying on average. It ties compensation to quality of work rather than seniority, just like private sector employees. It does preserve collective bargaining, for safety issues.

I want our schools, and our cities to be able to continue to provide excellent service for their citizens, but if the demands of public sector unions continue to escalate we will have neither safety, education, nor protection.

Please Vote "Yes" on Issue 2 and Issue 3

Big fat "NEGATIVE" my father fought for these rights, and you are obviously oblivious to this issue. But, im not going to go into a debate..... But what i will do is stand up for what was fought for ages ago, and i will Remember in November.......

Vote NO on issue 2 !!!!

For a good reference..... You tube Congressman Ryan and watch it !!!!

I think teachers should be accountable for whatthe kids learn. If they arn't learning enough they should find someone that can. How does this have anything to do with our rights about firearms?

Vote NO on issue 2 I'm a firefighter and half of my family are. Taking away our pay and giving us job layoffs will put a big impact on the city's and small cummunitys. When your house catches fore don't call 911 because it will take to long for us to respond because we won't have enough man power. Don't call ems when your having a heart attack because we will be to busy looking for a new job instead of saving your ******* ass.

I love how the pro-union people threaten with letting your house burn down or that the "police" may not be able to "protect you" , Or that they wont be able to provide a quality education and such (like they actually do now, lmbo)... It helps show their true colors better than anything we could even dream of coming up with....

The liberals and unions SCREAM about "they need to pay their fair share" about the rich (which is more bullcrap for a different discussion) Yet, when we ask them to do the same (which is what this issue is 100% about) they freak out... lol

issue 2

Another person that doesn't know the facts. probly is not a rich guy. the same guys who have you believe in the wrong thing about the issue 2. are the same guys that are holding you back. and you don't even realize it. do your own research

Glockk23,

What you just said is exactly why we need to vote yes on issue 2.

Our City Manager just announced they will closing one fire station, and laying off another 3 fireman, on top of those that have already been laid off.

Why? not because of wages , but because of all the early retirements, large pensions, health care guarantees, and a whole lot of other things the Unions have added into the contracts to the point that it is unsustainable.

Sure we all wish we could retire at 50, get a great pension and have paid up health care, but we live in the real world where we have to pay for all or part of our own pension and health care.

I have a friend that was a fireman, he retired got his pension and went back to work at the same job and collected both his pension and his wages, and has now retired again. May be you can answer the question he wouldn’t , is he now collecting two pensions? I know he is doing very well down in Florida.

All Issue 2 does is require you pay for part of your pensions and health care. It still allows you to negotiate for wages, and safety. The best thing it does is make increases in pay due to merit and not longevity. So in the case of all public service workers, we will be able to keep the best., and not just those that have been there longer.

Why Don't you understand?

I think teachers should be accountable for whatthe kids learn. If they arn't learning enough they should find someone that can. How does this have anything to do with our rights about firearms?

Unclewaynel17

You ask what this has to do with our rights about firearms.

Everything, don’t you understand what is going on in our schools today.

Teachers are no longer worried about teaching the truth about our Nation and the Constitution. They are more worried about Social issues, Green, and entitlements.

The Progressive movement started with the take over of our schools, our Unions, and our government in the 60’s, those same teachers politicians, and Union Bosses are now so entrenched in the system and our government they developed that they can’t be removed.

What is on the Progressive Agenda?

One World Leadership, why do you think Obama has sided with The United Nations against Libya. Why is he ignoring Israel? Why wasn’t Congress included in the decision? Why do you think we no longer Pledge Allegiance to the flag in classrooms?

Destruction of the Morality of America, why do you think he called us a Moslem Nation? Why do you think Prayer was removed from our classrooms?

Destroy the Economy of America, why do you think they demanded Banks to give loans that were no longer guaranteed with down payments. Why do you think they now blame the banks, and Fanny and Freddie the fake loan guarantee people are still there? Why do you think they are forcing the shut down of our oil wells, our coal fields, our hydro dams, and our power plants with EPA and Dept. of Wildlife regulations? Why do you think they borrower us into unsustainable debt and hand it over to their Union Boss Friends that will pass it back to them and announce this is your Army, but are too dumb to understand what is going on?

Class Warfare, Black against White, Rich against Poor, American against Non-American, Union against Non-Union.

Not long ago when we where a strong Moral Patriotic Nation White’s fought and died by the thousands to guarantee the rights of our Black brothers so they could have the same rights all other Americans had (Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness) but that is all forgotten now why?

Not long ago our boarders were respected, and those non-Americans entering our Country all came for the same reason, Freedom and the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, not free health care, education, and the demand that we speak Spanish.

Not long ago the Rich and the Poor fought together to free a Country that we now call the United States of America.

Not long ago we needed unions to right the wrongs of sweat shops and coal towns and company stores. We now need to right the wrongs of those very unions that prey on small companies.

Disarm America, Well here we are to your question, and 2nd. Amendment may be the only thing that has stopped the total takeover, but they are still working on it everyday in our classrooms, also Eric Holder and the un-justice department isn’t done yet.

Our Governor Kasich is the first to have guts enough to address the problem.
Sure it doesn’t help his poll numbers but he is doing the right thing, just what he said he is going to do.

I almost didn’t vote for him because of his NRA score, but I’m glad I did.

Obama likes Ohio’s Governor about as well as he likes the Arizona Governor, so they must be alright.

Look at Wisconsin, the budget went from Red To Black and they now hire more and better teachers, firemen, and Policemen than they did before excepted the same change Ohio wants to make.

One of the best post I have seen

Debray,
Your post is one of the best I have seen on this website.
I wish some liberal would come forth and answer your questions
in a sane and logical manner.
Thank you .

The only comment I have on this is about the standardized testing. Students are already spending way too much of their time on standardized testing that really tells very little about what the students are actually learning. Whoever came up with the "No child left behind" program should be tarred, feathered then drawn and quartered. That program has set actual learing back years in our schools trying to meet some standard testing grade that does nothing to actually help the students, teachers or schools but is great eyewash for some bureaucrats to make a few parents feel good about their children's school.

They have developed the standards for teachers to get their students up to a certain level and now the teachers have to only teach what is on the test. Anything else or any real learming is gone and only the test counts. Also it doesn't matter what the child is actually capable of learning only the test counts. In our school district the special classes for the "mentally handicapped" students had to be eliminated and those students placed in regular classes. If not there was no way that one certain school could avoid being taken over as 10 year old students who could not write their names were tested using the same tests as the "Gifted and Talented" students and expected to make the same scores.

In some grades out of 180 school days 18 are set aside for standardized testing which cannot be used for regular testing or grading. When the possibility of the school being taken over or teachers and administrators fired because students cannot reach an arbritrary level of learning regardless of their ability then the system is broken. Some people do not believe in IQ tests but when you have a class of 30 students with an average IQ of 80 firing the teacher because the studentt do not score as well as a class of 15 with an average IQ of 120 on standardized tests is not the answer but I have seen that happen,

Well they have stolen just about all the Issue 2 signs. They have also stolen about half of the Issue 3 signs.

We need to get the word out about the Buckeye Institute Website, it may be our last chance to let taxpayers know Issue 2 is really needed.

Send the Web-site address to everyone you know, add it to your Face Book, or Tweet it whatever (just get the word out).

Let people see for themselves what Teachers Salaries are and what pensions they will receive.

You can also check State Employees Salaries and Federal Agents salaries. (Check out the Department of Education if you want to know where the money is going).

You can look at every Public school district in Ohio and see what each teacher is getting paid and what their pension will be when they retire. Average around $55,0000 + or - per year and the year is only 180 days minus sick and personal days around 13+. Pensions $35,000. + or - per year that they don't pay anything into it, compared that to your $19,000. you may receive from Social Security that you have paid into all your life. (Just select a District and Year than click Select)
