Volunteers from a Volunteer Military

IMHO we should ask for volunteers within our military to be those boots on the ground to fight ISIS.
I don't know today's Army, I was Yesterdays Army or maybe even the day before that. But I believe we have a group of young men and women who understand the threat and would either go fight ISIS in Iraq or return to Iraq to fight ISIS.
The United States of America is the only fighting force that can stop the march of ISIS.
I do wonder how many members of ISIS are already on American soil.

Howdy,

No It does not. Read the thread title.

One thing to remember is that the vast majority of the military are NOT combat troops.

One of the problems that we have ran into in Iraq, mainly with the last group of AssClowns, is that they were taking non-combat troops, women included, without proper training and equipment and sending them on foot patrol around Baghdad.

Lil' George/Chaney/Haliburton stated that they "volunteered" so they got what they deserved.

The only problem with "boots on the ground" is what will happen when We pull out next time? We can NOT occupy a country halfway around the world. It just doesn't work.

So, what do you suggest?

Kick the crap out of ISIL and come home?

Nuke 'em? ( that's my recommendation )

Kick the crap out of them and put someone like Saddam in control of the area? ( 2nd part of my plan ).

Stay out of it and let the chips land where they may?

Just curious.

The problem with this suggestion is that our troops would no longer be "our troops." They would be mercenaries and what could happen in that case could come back to haunt us for many years. If we are going to fight them, let it be in their country and finish the job, once and for all. Sad to say but I agree with Sten. Nuke 'em!

Our troops are always our troops. They take their orders from (Gulp) our commander and chief and fight under our flag.
I suggest we destroy ISIS, return the country to a stable condition, and stay long enough to train the troops the proper way.
Obama pulled us out before the troops were ready to stand on their own.
I understand the % of non combat troops, we will need those troops as well.
United States boots on the ground is a far better solution than arming anyone. Any way we accomplish that is what we will have to do. You all know this.
We are pi$$ing money down the drain pipe to try it any other way.
And Yes, Nuke the whole damn bunch of them I don't give a Rats A$$.

I don't think there is any hope in the present culture of most middle east countries of peaceful will-of-the-people governments. it seems every time there is an overthrow of a dictator followed by elections, the voters elect someone who promises to be a dictator. Maybe its a cultural thing derived from the long history of tribal governance.

Unfortunately, it seems the best we can do is support dictators who are friendly to us, because installing elected governments usually ends up with overthrow.

If we are going to put boots on the ground, they must be aloud to do their job. War is an ugly business. Collateral damage is going to happen, get over it. Have clearly defined objectives. Leave command and control to the military not politicians and a community organizer.

By the time the Obama administration comes to an end we will have ISIS attacks on our soil, Russia will be flying into our airspace at will, and Obama care will have been crushed under its own weight. I didn't think it could happen until Obama was out of office but its going to happen before he has a chance to clear White House grounds.

That statement right there, says everything about what you know, or don't know actually.

You're a poser, Paul. I think you "military experience" is a fabrication of your mind.

Crawl back into your basement, nutjob.
