And yes, Herring is a Liberal Progressive Socialist Democrat.

The headline of this thread, Virginia AG stops out of state Concealed Carry Permits, is incorrect. The article you linked is appropriately titled: Virginia to end concealed carry reciprocity with other states. There is a significant legal difference. From the Link Removed:

The State Police superintendent accepted Herring’s recommendation to sever agreements with those states, effective Feb. 1, according to Herring’s office.

The states are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Agreements will remain with West Virginia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.

...

Visitors to Virginia can still obtain a non-resident permit if they meet a separate set of standards set forth in the law.

That's ok. Don't plan on visiting any states that like to suppress constitutional rights anyways.

The fact I live in North Carolina means this affects me directly. I feel much safer with the ability to conceal carry, and not making myself an immediate target of some deranged wacko, but I can go ahead and scare gun banners in Virginia by open carrying instead. The ability of stupid people to get ever more stupid never ceases to amaze me, and the fact that conceal carry makes EVERYONE safer but these fools are willing to sacrifice public safety to their agenda is something that doesn't really surprise me.

Since this doesn't include preclude open carry, people can just do that instead.

Didn't realize it didn't include open carry. That is good it is still an option.

And what state would you be from?

Arkansas. That being said I do believe that to require a license is an infringement in and of itself.

The AG here however as well as governor and most of the state reps and senators are pro gun.

As evidenced by the recent opinion released that act 746 does allow open carry. And recently a conviction being overturned after someone was charged and convicted of carrying a weapon openly.

I want to know how many "visitors" to Virginia with out of state permits are committing crimes. I guess the next round will be to stop honoring out of state drivers licenses to reducing speeding.

I've been thinking a lot about this. One of the reasons VA cancelled CC reciprocity for some states was the requirements in the excluded states were not as stringent as VA. Some states were acceptable and they retain reciprocity. WV is one of those states and I don't feel the CC requirements are excessively strict. If we advocate nationwide reciprocity, shouldn't we also advocate reciprocity in CC requirements?

I've been informed that you are permitted to OC in va regardless of residency, so now I will OC when in VA

NO.

No-one with ANY CLUE of what our RIGHTS are would want anything to do with nationwide reciprocity.

I look at it this way. I don't have to go to Virginia on vacation, or through Virginia, or do business with Virginia. This is their lost of tourist dollars, more than mine.

I don't think you folks really understand what is really going on. The is a payback for Bloomburg that spent 2.2 million dollars this year trying to get the Virginia Senate flipped to the Democrats and it failed. The AG won the election when he ran by 165 votes after Bloomburg spent a few million getting him elected.

The people that are punished are us concealed carriers that live in Virginia. We are losing the option of concealed carry in most of the 25 states that are forbidden from carrying in Virginia. You have the option of putting your gun out in plain view or open carrying when you come to Virginia but we don't have an option in most states.

Some of you are cocky and say you don't have a problem because your elected officials are pro-gun. We were that way until two years ago and the liberals fooled the public and used a lot of newcomers to defeat true Virginians and we got a California Clinton/Obama robot for a governor.

Maybe nation-wide reciprocity is not the correct term. I thought the majority of CCL holders supported being able to at least travel legally through any State in the Union with their concealed weapon.

I fully support people legally present in the United States being able to travel legally through any state in the union with their concealed weapon. I do not support having to obtain the government's permission to do so.

you can very easily obtain a FL cwfl and that will cover you in most of the places that you've lost your rights in
