Victim of Prejudice. When were you judged to be someone or something you were not? and what happened?
I'll go first.
Before I joined the United States Army I had hair down to my butt. I had a very large beard, I wore my Brooks Leathers, and rode a Harley.
I drank a little more than I should when I was out, and I smoked weed, OK, I smoked a lot of weed. But that was about the extent.
I was working construction at the time. I never hurt anyone, and no one hurt me.
When I walked into places like Sears or JCPenny people would just stare then look away. I'll be honest, it kinda sucked.
I knew who I was on the inside, but on the outside I was trouble.
One day in Down Town Toledo Ohio I parked my bike, Got off, put some money in the meter and started to walk down the street. A little old lady was walking towards me, she held her purse like a running back hold the football. She was shaking and looking at me out of the corner of her eye.
That day changed who I was on the outside, and broke my heart on the inside. When I got home I called the Army recruiter... I have never gone back.
I may be a hippie at heart to this day but the outside is far from it.
