Once again, a gunny overreacts, though I can understand concerns when the membership can't vote on it. Do you need a gun at a drinking place? Is it really the Old West Saloon scene with brawls and shootouts in Cheyenne? Sad. Alcohol and weapons don't mix well at all. I love guns, and like many tools, they have a proper place. And yes, I support the 2nd Amendment, and support NRA's wonderful training programs while hating their rabid dog political activities (that's why I won't join). Grow up, Matie A. You may be a great guy, but join the real world where alcohol impairs judgment, and judgment is both highly desirable and NEEDED when carrying. VFW appears to know the dangers, but should have (even knowing they might not pass the rule) allowed the membership a voice. That's the real issue, not knee jerk 2nd Amendment misperception. I know that "responsibility" has been a dirty word since the 60s, but rights MUST be tempered by responsibility. You might want to read the history of how the Founding fathers came up with these laws and the Constitution, their historical perspective (which includes an assumption that good citizens will take responsibility for common sense), and what the well-documented issues are. Tone down the rhetoric! Learn to listen, focus on the real issues, and think before acting. "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.", but what you won't see can hurt you, just like with guns. Over-reacting just undermines your argument, and shuts down both listening and speaking coherently to find a result both sides can live with. That's the American way, to argue intelligently, and come to an agreement. Or are you mimicking Congress...... "my way or the highway"? Even us grizzled old vets know guns can be dangerous in the hands of the impaired...we learned that in combat as well.....
