$#!+ might hit the fan sooner than you think....if it comes down to it any of the 7.62x39, 5.56x45, 7.62x54r, .308, 12ga, .44 rem mag and even a .22 will help me find food... I do like the Marlin XL7 in 30-06 as an all purpose hunter. And the savage 111 again in 30-06. I am looking at a 30-30 lever gun. maybe marlin, maybe mossberg...

For anything under 150-200 yards, I like my 444 Marlin, after that I have a Mark X Mauser in .30-06. The Marlin shoots better though.

I dont think we will see **** hitting the fan soon. Its gonna be a while for it to happend. But when it dose you can save up blankets and candles

my son goes deer hunting sometimes up in wva....last time he went he brought home some and we made jerky out of it ....he flew on a plane and wasn't sure if he could bring it back that way so didn't take back much this time afraid they wouldn't let him take it he gave most of it away up there but i'm glad he tried to take some back and they let him take it too so next time he can know to bring more more more

I'm still partial to my old 742 .308 for deer and an old Savage 110 7mm Rem mag for the bigger animals. The key is something you can hit the target with. Like I said yesterday on another thread, one good shot with a .22 is worth 6 clean misses with a .338 mag

I argee, I will hunt, and shoot what we need to survive. As to my Weapon of chioce it will be my Wetherby .300 Mag Vangaurd with my Nikon 3x9x40
It's a simple set-up that has devastating results. Plus, I have enough rounds to last me for an long time I buy roughly 100 rounds a month, and Load them myself. I only get paid once a month, so I have to purchase this way. I load probably 10 rounds daily on average.

Maybe you should stick to something you no because you obviously dont no CT deer hunting. Theres more deer in this state than the DEP knows what to do with. We get unlimited doe tags and we have a earn a buck tag. (4 does equal a buck.) stick to shooting your guns and pretend your chuck norris and leave the big boys to hunting

Just thinking out loud here but wouldn’t it be more productive to go now before TSHTF and maybe stock up on a little extra rice, maybe a few more beans or maybe make a habit of throwing an extra canned good or two in the shopping cart every time you go shopping and maybe build up some food reserves?
