vehicle holster

I own a '04 avalanche that has bucket seats and a middle console that separates them. I bought a uncle mike's sidekick holster so I can pull my weapon out of my shoulder rig and sit comfortably. (I am a big and tall guy) I was planning on mounting it in front of the passenger seat so it would be within arms reach and allow easy access instead of putting on the left side near my leg. I do NOT want to drill into the console. I was thinking about getting some velcro strips and leaving the holster alone for a week or two before I put my weapon in it so it would bond to the console good. Anybody got any other ideas? Thanks.

I'm about to try a ziptie rig to my sterring column. In plain sight so I can see it and not forget about it with the younger ones.

There are a few locking pin-code style lock boxes that are designed to fit into consoles of GM-Ford-Dodge trucks. Similar to the ones you can bolt to your nightstand, 4 number combo and your weapon is at the ready. I don't remember what brand they are though...

There is also this one:

DeSantis Kingston Car Seat Holster NOW AVAILABLE!

I think the strap rotates around so the buckle ends up under the seat.

Ya navy I considered buying this one and instead of wrapping it around the seat wrapping it around the console....might have to use my ol trusty duty belt I already got and see if it works....

I did not read all the posts carefully but in SC, the firearm must be concealed in a compartment in the vehicle, which, IMO, voids its use to some extent. You can, however, have your firearm CC on your person while in the car. I have a Remora holster as a CC holster and it can be "readjusted" so that it is still concealed on me yet is easily accessible when I am strapped into my car seat. Before leaving vehicle, I readjust for walking around CC.

I don't like the holsters myself and prefer something more secure. That way I have no worries of who might get in the car with me. I also don't mind holes in the floor and I can access mine from the drivers seat. I really only use it on longer drives or to secure my CCW when I can't have it on me.

in plain sight? I don't think so. What state are you in that allows this?

It's not concealed. I don't see how this is legal?

Let's see.... Washington, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, Alaska, Vermont, New Mexico, Idaho, South Dakota, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Utah, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Alabama, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Hawaii are states where concealment is not required in the vehicle. I probably missed a couple. So the 'OMG!" question should be, how can it NOT be legal to carry in a vehicle in plain sight, which state has those asinine restrictive laws?!? Let's see...that leaves only Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, New York, and California.

I drive a small Toyota truck, I'm a big guy. 6'2 240, finding options in my truck are tough. It normally rides next to my gear shifter.

Florida actually makes this easy.
(l) A person traveling by private conveyance when the weapon is securely encased or in a public conveyance when the weapon is securely encased and not in the person's manual possession;
Definition of securely encased: 17) "Securely encased" means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access.
Hurray Florida! Snap it in a holster, toss it on the passenger seat and away you go!
I actually had this verified by a concealed carry instructor and a LEO.
A shoe box with the lid on works.
