I don't think so.

But hey...cruise tours are going cheap nowadays since the Concordia hit the rocks...just don't go to Mexico I suppose...

I have never considered Mexico as a vacation destination, there is so much to see and do right here in America. With the news reports of late, I think (and hope) more people would be thinking about and making new vacation plans to somewhere other than Mexico.

I just got back from a cruise. We had narrowed it down to 2 choices - one western Caribbean/Mexico and the other eastern Caribbean. We chose "other".

It's too bad because Mexico has always been a great place to vacation before all the crap that's been going on for the last 6+ yrs. I've always wanted to see the pyramids on the Yucatan. That'll have to wait.

I remember, as a young sailor, going into Tijuana with a bunch of buddies and never having the first thought of being robbed or assaulted.

Then as an old sailor, I went to Nuevo Laredo with my brother and our two wives.

Having the women along made me really uneasy.

About 10 years ago, as an old retired sailor, I had the chance to take my wife into Tijuana again and after about 1 hour, I was through.

Times have changed and so has the thought of 'bring it on'.

Glad I got to see and experience the good times way back when. It's a shame our grandchildren will never know 'the way it was'.

Yes, 10 years ago Tijuana was already different, but I can still go there and visit friends in San Diego and we'd go to Tijuana for those live crayfish (little lobsters) where they cook them for us right in the restaurant. $10 for a whole pot...and lots of beer to go around. Now hubby just fly us to Boston to eat the bigger real lobster when we can squeeze in some time. I love seafood...a lot! I'd go for miles to bring home some live ones back here.

And oh, Bob in Bristol, I agree with you that there are a lot of places here in the US to go on vacation. I have been living here in years and yet I have not seen them all yet. It took me 5 years of living here in MO to even see the arch for the first time, much more go to the city...
