Utah town arming/training its citizens....

SPRING CITY, Utah (AP) — Officials in a small Utah town want to make sure every head of household has a firearm and knows how to use it, and they want to give school teachers training with guns too...

The council also approved funding to offer concealed firearms training Friday to the 20 teachers and administrators at the local elementary school.

"It sends a statement that criminals better think twice," Sorensen told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "If a teacher would have had a concealed weapon in Sandy Hook, I think the death loss would have been fewer. If sane, trained people had guns, they could have shot back."

THIS TOWN COUNCIL GETS IT!!!

But not the school superintendent.

...school administrators don't think arming teachers is wise, and they are not encouraging teachers to participate in Friday's training.

"The more guns you have in the school, the more dangerous it is," said Leslie Keisel, superintendent of the North Sanpete School District.

Some people will never learn.

I lived in Utah for 10 years and understand the people a little. They still consider themselves western stock and are willing to take the bull by the horns. They are good people who love their families and would do what ever is needed to keep them safe. Spring City is a small community set off by itself in the nature that is Utah. LEO in the area are more than likely pretty thin and over worked. So you need to take the bull by the horns and protect yourself and you family. Kudos to them all.

Well I guess all law abiding gun owners know where to move now.

I currently have obligation regarding the daily care of my mother-in-law who is 88 yo and in good health. If and when she joins her family, my intentions is to return to the West. There is just too much there to appreciate and enjoy.
