using public restroom & carrying

As a female who carries in the waistband, I either hang my purse on the hook on the back of the door and put my gun in there, or I will put the safety on and hang the gun on the hook. One caution is that make sure the cracks between the stalls is not wide enough that someone could glance over and see your gun on the hook. I don't always trust the toilet paper dispenser because sometimes they can come open and dump everything on the floor. Check it first before putting anything on it.

Putting it in your purse is fine, so long as you have a perfect record of not leaving your purse somewhere. But I STRONGLY recommend you re-think the strategy of hanging it on the hook. NOTHING SHOULD EVER GO IN THE TRIGGER GUARD OF YOUR FIREARM UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO FIRE IT. You're asking for a negligent discharge by hanging it on the hook.

I know this is possible because it happens but I have to ask "Where in the FRAK is your head that you would forget that you just put your gun on the TP holder?"

I personally know of three such incidents here in Massachusetts. One was a doctor, who left it on the TP holder in his hospital. The second was an attorney, who left it in the restroom of the office building where he works. And the third, I'm not sure of his occupation, but he left it in the Wal-Mart restroom.

Well, I normally put the safety on before I do that. As for hanging my purse on the hook on the door, the hook has two hooks on it. I hang it on the bottom one which is shorter. Someone would have to reach over the door and clear the top hook because it's longer, in order to get to the second hook. Many times the tp dispenser is too small or not in good shape to put anything on. And finally, never put your purse on the floor. You don't know what the heck is down there. Just be careful whatever you do, and be SAFE!

The safety is there to protect you in case you make a mistake not so you can do something inherantly unsafe deliberately and get away w/it.

Your finger (or anything else) doesn't go in the trigger guard until the sights are on the target period

I am wondering how to use the urinal while carrying iwb. As soon as you loosen the belt, you have got a lot of things to keep pointed in the right direction as well as keeping your pants from falling to the floor. On top of that it seems like anyone walking in could see you printing pretty heavily. I guess that using a stall would be the easiest/safest way to go... just wondering what you guys do-

I use a belt to hold the holster. I use suspenders to to hold everything up. With the old suspenders everything sag so low I would print and I would feel this urge for rap music, yuck! Anyway, the new suspenders RUGGED COMFORT - Western Suspenders - elastic work great. The belt actually threads through the suspenders as you are threading it through your belt loops. Works perfect at the urinal.

There was an article in the local about a preteen finding a gun in the stall at the local Y'all Mart. It turned out to be an off duty LEO's gun, so I guess it can happen and happen to anyone. But talk about being preoccupied! Jeez!

You folks that carry the 'mini' guns could use one of the neck lariats you see retail clerks wear their name tags on. You see a lot of managers at Y'all Mart wearing them.

Carry one in your pocket and loop it through the trigger guard or around the grip. Wear it around your neck while in the stall. Just make sure the safety is WAY on before you loop a 'trigger pull' anywhere near the trigger.

What about a length of stretchy webbing that has Velcro on both ends. It is long enough to wrap around my upper calf just below the knee. When I sit to do my business I wraps it around my calf, slip in my gun, do my thing. I can stand and move around with it and the gun at knee level, then transfers the gun to my IWB as I pull up my pants.

And if anyone decides to market the product, I get 15% for intellectual property right! :-)

There's nothing intellectual about putting anything through the trigger guard but your finger, when aimed at something you are willing to destroy. Never rely on a mechanical safety. Period.
