As some of you may remember about two years ago I came up with the idea to have a USAcarry picnic for members to come and meet each other. Again as some may remember it failed to happen. Well I never gave up on the idea and kept pushing it trying to find a way to pull it off and it looks as if that has happened. I have a BBQ company who is willing to Vendor the event for around two hundred dollars. They will provide hamburgers, pulled pork, dogs, non-alcoholic drinks and more. You will have to pay for your own food if you wish to eat! It was more cost effective this way on the vendor as well as me. If I paid for the food I would have had no way of knowing how much to pay for. Then in turn we would have to sell food tickets to people wishing to eat at the event. I will post the prices as soon as I get them back from the vendor I don't forsee them to be over the top high but if that happens I will work another plan.
The event will be FREE FOR ALL!!!!!!! I'm talking with Luke about having site sponsors donate items for raffles as well as other give aways. Luke also said he would be willing to bring things to the event such as (T-shirts, hats and other miscellaneous items). I'm working right now on applying for the permits needed to hold the event, but the plan as of now is to hold it in the cites common park in the center of the city. I'm also looking at renting a PA system for music as well as porta potty's. If anyone would like help pay or pay for any of the two items ( porta potty's, PA and or DJ) I will send you information for companies in the area and you can go with the one you would like. I WILL AT NO POINT BE ASKING ANYONE FOR MONEY!. But anyone is more then welcome to pay for items by choosing a company and sending your money to them direct! Some members have already offered to pay for the food costs but I said no as I'm willing to pay for that item. As of now we do not have a date set for the event So I'm looking for your input as to what date next year to hold the event on? I have the food vendor showing up around 10am-2pm so it looks like it will start around 10am we just need a date (the sooner the better :biggrin
I was thinking a Saturday? I can give information on camp grounds and hotels/motels in the area to all needing that information.
