Updated list of the most gun friendly states, 2013

Thank God I'm alive!
A thread I started back in 2007 recently became popular again, so I got the idea to post an updated list of the most gun-friendly states for 2013. Without further ado:

1. Arizona: Arizona was already number 1 on my '07 list, even when it didn't have concealed carry without a permit. Now it does, and with such few restrictions on what can be carried (long guns, handguns, knives, and class III and NFA weapons included, openly or concealed, as long as they're legally possessed by the person carrying them) and where people can carry, it will continue to remain number 1 on my list.

2. Vermont: Despite this state's liberal political culture, carry (both concealed and open) without a permit has long been legal there. Like Arizona, it has very few places that are off limits, has no magazine capacity or assault weapon restrictions, and is car-carry friendly and Class III/NFA friendly.

3. Alaska: Another state where carry (either concealed or open) without a permit has long been legal. The number of off limits places (slightly more than Vermont and Arizona), plus the requirement to notify anyone whose house you enter that you are carrying, are what keep Alaska from being ranked higher. Besides those restrictions, however, it's still more gun friendly than most of the rest of the U.S. by virtue of permitless concealed carry, being car carry friendly, class III and NFA friendly, and no magazine capacity or assault weapon restrictions.

4. Wyoming: This state is relatively new to the concealed carry without a permit party (since 2011). Unlike the top three states on this list, which allow it for both residents and nonresidents, in Wyoming, it's legal only for residents (nonresidents can still open carry without a permit though). Nevertheless, Wyoming is car carry friendly, has no magazine capacity or assault weapon restrictions, and is class III and NFA friendly.

5. Kentucky: Of all the states that don't have concealed carry without a permit, Kentucky is the most gun owner friendly. Open carry, despite being frowned on in the big cities, is still perfectly legal there, with or without a permit. Unlicensed car carry, both open and concealed (concealed only within a factory-installed compartment such as the glovebox, center console, seat pockets, or door pockets) is also legal, and there are no restrictions on magazine capacity, assault weapons, or class III/NFA weapons. Best of all, Kentucky doesn't discriminate against non-Kentuckians; it honors permits from every state.

6. Idaho: The beauty of Idaho is that its state constitution, in addition to recognizing the right to keep and bear arms, specifically prohibits the state legislature from passing any law that taxes guns or ammunition. Concealed carry permits are cheap (only $10) Open carry (both on foot and in a vehicle) is legal without a permit, permits from every state are honored there, and there are no restrictions on magazine capacity, assault weapons, or Class III and NFA weapons.

7. Montana: Open carry without a permit (both on foot and in a vehicle), very few off limits places, no magazine capacity or assault weapon restrictions, and is Class III and NFA friendly.

8. South Dakota: Open carry without a permit (both on foot and in a vehicle), few places are off limits, no restrictions on assault weapons or magazine capacity, and is class III and NFA friendly.

9. Virginia: Virginia is the most open carry friendly state in America. Although Virginia got rid of its one handgun per month law, it still has a few too many off limits places to be ranked any higher. Nevertheless, many of the horror stories you hear from open carriers don't happen in Virginia due to it being so open carry friendly.

10. Florida: Despite not allowing open carry, Florida revolutionized the concealed carry movement with the passage of its shall issue law in the late 80s, and again with the passage of its Castle Doctrine law a few years ago. It has quite a few off limits places, but it is car carry friendly and there are no magazine capacity restrictions. Also, Florida's nonresident CCW permit is honored by more states than any other.
