Unique Personal Identiy Number (UPIN)

Can't seem to get info on how to obtain this. Any one know how to go about getting one. Web searches get nowhere. Thanks in advance

Because if your identity is stolen or you share the name of another who is not you, it allows for you to avoid delays caused by misidentification by batf.

Thats not really what your social security number is for. Though admittedly it is the simplest thing to use.

UPIN is a Unique Personal Identification Number.You will need a VAF in order to get a UPIN.

Voluntary Appeal File (VAF)

If you continue to experience transaction denials or lengthy delays as a result of subsequent firearm background checks, you may be eligible for entry into the NICS Voluntary Appeal File (VAF). For more information pertaining to the VAF, you may contact the NICS Customer Service at 1-877-444-NICS (6427).

As mentioned by Corndog, you need the Voluntary Appeal File in order to get a UPIN. I wonder if you really want to voluntarily get a number with which Big Brother can more easily track you. We have enough of that already. Surely there should be another option available whereby one can establish identification without falling under some government numbering scheme. Next thing you know you will have to have a microchip implanted. Ain't no way!

Unfortunately we are tracked and unless you want to live another kinda of life you will be tracked and if you fall off the grid they will still keep looking for you. Sad but true.

We have Customers that have applied for their UPIN. It's no big deal and makes their background check go easier. If you have a SS Number like everyone els, YOU CAN RUN BUT, YOU CAN'T HIDE.

Check your local FFL, mine had a nice pamphlet.

Update: Recieved Letter from USDOJ,FBI that they recieved my VAF: Voluntary Appeal File on 11/28/11 forwarded to NICS: National Crimminal Background Check System and that the current proccess time is 109 days approximately. Mailed it on the 11/18/11.

I am an "immagrint" and had been delayed a few times but ultimately decided to just continue to take my chances or use pistol purchase permits when buying longguns, I don't buy that much anyway. How many handgun permits can you get? They might be an alternative.

This is not a handgun permit it is to recieve a Unique Personal Identity Number so I am not delayed in obtaining firearms.

Ah, you are in Florida, I overlooked that. Here in NC in order to buy handguns you have to have pistol purchase permits. They are easy and cheap to get. Once you have those you can buy handguns or longguns and you don't have to do the background check. If that's different in FL then never mind of course.
