The newly elected governor said he would sign an open carry bill if it come to his desk. I prefer concealed but I have always disliked that the great state of Texas didn't give us the choice of open vs concealed. Right now it is just talk so we will have to wait and see what happens. I really hope it is done the right way and the constitution is recognized and the silly permits are done away with along with the stupid 30.06 signs.

I agree. I plan to contact my State Representative to ask that the 30.06 provision be repealed or at least add language that it cannot apply to private property where the public is expected and welcomed. Examples are stores, restaurants, malls, hospitals, etc. I believe that a private homeowner should be able to deny someone bringing a gun into their home but to grant the ability to ban guns from where the public gathers...that is ludicrous.

I agree with both of you guys. I heard on a news station here in my part of the woods that they want it open carry by permit. That stinks.

You should be able to do both without Gov't intervention. BUT, reality rules as well as the Laws of your State. In NC you do not need a permit to OC, permit to CC. This is better the nothing.

when I lived in GA, I liked the way their system works. They call it a "weapons carry license" and once you get one you can carry ANY weapon that is legal for you to own concealed or open. They make no distinction between what kind of weapon or how you carry it.
