Thank gawd Chicago has a handgun ban in place. Without it some law abiding citizen carrying their own gun could have put a stop to the carnage. Fortunately, the killer got away before anyone could violate his rights.

How screwed up the anti-gun lobby is to propose disarming law abiding people who have to go out and about in public without an ability to defend themselves or their loved ones. 17 year old kid is dead because the anti's care more about the criminal than the kid. I wonder what their 'acceptable loss' number is. How many have to die at the hands of a criminal before they say enough?

I'm confused. The gunman had a gun but carrying a gun in Chicago is illegal. Since the carry ban is supremely effective and removes all gun crime, we can only surmise that the gunman was an LEO as they are the only ones allowed to be armed.

Silly you! Don't you realize that this exactly what the anti's want, just like Fast & furious was going to be used to enforce stronger gun laws on the border states. The liberals don't want you to be able to violate the criminals rights by defending yourself.

how about if you vote "yes" to limiting handguns in any state...Your yes vote removes your right to carry, no matter where you are from or what your home state law is...I'll go one better, you will not be allowed protection in any way using firearms...ie: personal bodyguards, private security. Then you will know how "helpless" someone feels to not be able to protect ones self or family. This should include Judges also!

Let us not forget the plight of the murderer. He probably had a tough life growing up in a disadvantaged area because of his disadvantaged color and his disadvantaged education. (The education part is probably not that significant since he probably didn't bother to go to school anyway). Truth be told, this is a clear example of how the white man is keeping this poor, disadvantaged guy down. Oh, I almost forgot, it's also George Bush's fault.

Just another example of how gun-free zones are responsible for gun violence. Add these victims to the 12 wounded and 6 killed in the gun-free zone in Casas Adobes, AZ. Oh wait, that wasn't a gun free zone.

Sometimes, what we think is a logical association is just an irrational conclusion.

Very sad, I don't understand why the people don't take a stand for their rights. The criminals have more than the law abiding citizens. You never would realize how much you need a firearm till need it and don't have one.

Your logic is flawed. Just because no one happened to be carrying does not mean its the same as no one is allowed to carry. The difference is those people in Arizona CHOSE not to be armed vs a governmental entity CHOOSING FOR THEM.

Who's frickn side are you on anyway?

Think about it... Look at their politics. They elected Daly mayor, how many years in a row? BO? The other idiot trying to sell his seat! They are simply overwhelmed. The people of Chicago have been so confused, misguided, beaten down and sodomized by the liberal media and agenda that they don't even know they have rights. Any thing taught in schools would be poo-poo'd as old fashioned hog wash.

And yes I've been to Chicago. I helped with an alarm company on the south-side of Chicago. Never, and I mean NEVER again will I work in that state! I don't even like to drive through it!

Lets start the liberal minded blame game:

Im White, so therefore I am somehow partly responsible for ruining the world and spreading hate and racism and contributing to inequality.

George Bush is partly to blame too because everything is his fault.

The NRA is responsible because they fight to put evil guns in the hands of citizens.

Gun dealers and gun companies are obviously guilty.

Republicans and conservatives are guilty.

Walmart and other "big businesses" are to blame as well.

Sarge...maybe in Chicago (Illinois) for that matter, they have more criminals than law abiding citizens...just a thought...

Eggsakly along my line of thoughts...Bravo! Good retort.

Let's not be too hard on Chicago. This is the kind of thing you get when the dead are aloud to vote, for they have nothing to lose. Why would they care if the criminals rule.

Get your facts straight.

One person who was armed in Casas Adobes, AZ drew his weapon and was about to shoot an innocent person.

I'm on the side of expanding our rights to own and use firearms.

We can't get there by regurgitating easily defeated arguments, like blaming gun crime on gun-free zones. The opposition can too easily rip such arguments apart, leaving the focus on arguing about the arguments, instead of addressing the issues.

We need to separate the discussion about our rights to own firearms from discussions about gun crimes, rather than voluntary joining them together.
