Trijicon HD tritiums for Glock

Has anyone used the trijicon hd night sights? I'm wondering if it would be worth putting them, with the red front I'm thinking, on my Glock 23, as opposed to standard 3 dot tritiums. Do they have any advantages/disadvantages by comparison?

I have them on all 3 of my Glocks and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I could imagine that the red front post may be easier to acquire but I have no problem with the standard green ones.

Of my 3 pistols that have them, I need to send one set back for "warranty" repair. Which by the way will cost you 18 bucks for them to repair it. Sad, considering I had it on the pistol for less than 3 months before noticing they were broken. I'll do it because they are great to have, especially in complete darkness.

I have them on my 23 because it was the one they had in stock when I bought it. Personally I don't see much use in them other than being a little faster to line up at night. If you're in complete darkness what's the point in being able to see your sights if you can't see your target? I have standard sights on my duty weapon and I work graveyard and have no problem seeing them with normal street or moon lighting but the tritium is a little faster to line up.

I plan to upgrade my Glocks with Kimber-Meprolite sights, I like the ones on my 1911's, only issue is the age of the sights growing dim after a long time. It is a Ultra Carry, not an Ultra Carry II.

that was my next question, are meprolights any better than trijicons?

I was told that there is only one provider of the radioactive substance and the rest is just a preference to the manufacturing of the sight configuration. I HAD a Smith and Wesson 1911 with a Trijicon, glowed as well as the Kimbers, it was a big heavy piece and I did not even fire it, sold it for $100.00 more than the list price to a much larger guy. Smith makes great revolvers but I do not care for the full size autos. I would never sell MY WIFE’s Model 15 or Lady Smith in K frame .357 Mag. She loves revolvers and has yet to fire any of my semi-assault Pistols.

I have several Kimbers with meprolights I really like and have trijicons on my XD 45. I agree that the meprolights are a little bigger and brighter, but the rear sight has a slanted, sloping front where the trijicon is straight up vertical. So it's shooter's choice.
